yes to both. It's more realistic, no rule saying you can't and will make for better viewing.

Forgot to mention in the future if there are more Robo Zone tournaments I will most likely add a 1 on 1 challenge which will be scored like all other challenges (time/score based) and will pit entries against a randomly drawn opponent (feels silly for not including it before).

I haven't tried a design like that yet so kudos on beating me to it :) nice, if its for robozone2 (haven't checked the topic yet) itll probably do well if it gets to the final 4 rumbleHaven't received any entry from S_M yet, perhaps he is waiting until the last day of sign-ups and trying out some different designs. 1226

Any more interest in this? I noticed S_M posted an AW in his showcase, does anyone know if he wants to enter? you all still have 4 days to enter I would love to get more entries, I will keep sign-ups open if there is more interest though.

Tournament Archives / Re: General Tournament Discussion« on: September 29, 2012, 04:20:47 AM »Control or lack of control over the bracket doesn't change the fact that there is an advantage to be had in knowing what the other entrants are. Even if it's just a perceived advantage and nothing else, I can still see people not entering until they see more of the other entrants....which, again, slows entries down. It's the same disadvantage the host has by posting his entry, if one of the later entries wants to make a bot designed to beat another person so be it. (someone said something along those lines towards the hosts disadvantage in the robo zone 2 topic). Keep in mind these rules were put in place to prevent hosts cheating by waiting to receive entries then building a bot that can beat most of them, the brackets are another thing the host has control over. So: 1. Everyone see's all the entries when they are entered. 2. Host has control over brackets. 3. There's no way someone can design a bot to defeat all other entries given that they have no idea who they will face. 1228
Tournament Archives / Re: General Tournament Discussion« on: September 29, 2012, 03:59:19 AM »Gotta disagree with these. Especially the showing bots as they're received for two main reasons... 1. It's really up to the host if they allow updates/changes. 2. Some people actually show their entries anyway (NFX has shown his and so has Virus Bomb). People who aren't the host have no control over the brackets so this would be pointless. 1229

So the new host must show entry rule has caused myself to suggest a couple of new rules:
-The host can change/update their entry but must allow everyone else the option to change/update theirs and show the update/change in their topic before anyone else sends in their updates. -The host is to post pictures of all entries as they receive them. (possibly in a constantly updated splash?) I believe this clears up the update/change rule while allowing the host to be on more even grounds to everyone else. 1230
Tournament Archives / Re: Robo Zone 2.« on: September 29, 2012, 03:30:33 AM »Guys, calm your damn tits.My original entry was toy drumset 2, not the original downward spiral though. I'll switch my entry back however logan can keep his changed. I'm not trying to be like that, but it really has annoyed me that everyone seems to be against me on this. No one has seen the points I've made and no one has quoted this rule that I'm apparently breaking. I don't want to win my own tournament, I never have I just want to host a fun AW tournament with some new designs and to show off an amazing new arena that trovaner has built specifically for this tournament. If the host has to show his entry then hosts will never win a tournament again. If you want a fair playing field trust the hosts, we have been doing this for years after all and the current rules means that ANYONE ELSE who enters can change their entry just to beat the host. While it might not be specifically stated that a host can't change their entry, I take it as implied, myself. There's no other reason to have the host show their bot, other than to keep them from changing it later. That rule is only there as far as we are all concerned is to prevent the host cheating, however I have stated that ANYONE can change/update their entry this weekend if they wished to do so. I had already posted my entry for all to see and only logan so far chose to update/change his entry. So I could change it but I have to show it or what? Nope I don't want to annoy people by making it seem like I'm exploiting a loophole so I'm still changing it back to toy drumset 2. 1231

If you are all gonna complain about some non-existent rule I'm gonna be posting everyone's entries as I get them, and no one can change their entries. sound fair?
It's a damn shame because I wanted my coolest AW to be shown in this tournament plus logans update was cooler then his original entry too. 1232

Guys it isn't a bloody rule FFS, YOU HAVE ALWAYS BEEN ABLE TO CHANGE YOUR ENTRY. quit making stuff up, it's ticking me off. until someone quotes some rule stating you can't change your entry then i will keep it this way.

I changed my mind when someone else wanted to change their entry, I didn't want to allow changes because it was more work and I had already AI'd the bots and made the splashes. These new rules are wrong IMO, I will talk to G.K but honestly it seems like the people hosting are getting it tough despite being the ones putting in all the work. Did I miss something while I was away where some host got caught changing their entry to beat certain robots they received or something? 1235

did anyone find the rule on the host not being able to update/change their entry? because I couldn't find one :/

Tournament Archives / Re: Robo Zone 2.« on: September 28, 2012, 05:35:06 PM »I'm pretty sure the host is unable to change their entry once signups have begun. This is to avoid hosts receiving all the entrants, then changing their bot to one that can beat them all. It keeps the playing field level, since the entrants don't know their opponents for sure either, thus none of the entrants can alter their bots to beat their specific competition.I see what the rule is meant to prevent but I strongly disagree with it, especially for this kind of tournament. I mean if everyone else gets to see the hosts entry what are the chances of a host ever winning in the future if only they can't change their entry but everyone else can? In a normal tournament the host can't design an entry in that time to beat all other entries anyway :/ 1237
Tournament Archives / Re: Robo Zone 2.« on: September 28, 2012, 05:29:23 PM »
Sorry but these new rules are just strange, how come the host needs to show their entry but no one else has to until entries are closed? Do people really think the host can come up with a new design that beats all entries they receive? I don't recall click having to do this for BBEANS...
Either way this tournament is not your average battle each other tournament, it has challenges and only the top 4 after those challenges will face off for the title. People have been able to change entries in past tournaments too :/ And even if I change my entry (which I have and have posted for all to see) everyone else can change their entries this weekend... so I don't see how it's unfair. 1238
