In a head-on collision, I think XR actually has a hand up on FdO, because of that little plate that FdO has protecting it's bursts. If XR gets a hold of that, FdO'll get punted around quite easily because of it's small size. That being said, if I get under XR, he's pretty much finished.

Ah, very nicely done. I just assumed that it was the way I thought it was from the position of the drive motors. Also, if you minimize the empty space in the chassis, you should be able to fit granny wheels on.

Wasn't it called F5 or something? I seem to remember you and Inf talking about something like that, but never actually revealing it to the public.

Welcome to the GTM's forums. To answer a few of your questions, you would be correct in saying that this is the last place where everyone converged. The "official" forums had the plug pulled on them by Atari a couple of years ago, so everyone came here.
As for the situation of the game right now, it's pretty much abandonware, so there aren't any "official" projects planned. We do have a very faithful core group of modders though that have produced some pretty sweet things, like the DSL 2.1 mod especially. I actually recommend that you download this mod and stick it on another copy of RA2. I hope this helps, and welcome once again :) 1227

Top one. Maces always beat irons.
And the setup: You have two blue snappers, one on each side of your batteries, both on the side attachment point, facing what I'm assuming is the front of your bot. You then have extenders coming off of the main attachment point, with their attachment points facing the front again. You have two weapon systems on each extender. For the drive, you have a longer extender facing sideways off of the snapper's hidden attachment point, with the HPZteks mounted off of their bottom attachment point. Cool setup, but from my experience you should have a hard time driving smoothly with your drive mounted the way it is. When the HPZtek is facing the direction you have it, the wheel will have a hard time contacting the ground. 1228

Shhhhhhh... don't say anything yet guys, you might jinx me :P
Plus, I have some stiff competition still. MikeNCR built a good bot. It's got quite a bit to hurt you with, and Trov and Firebeetle are two great builders, so I just don't know how good their bots really are. I think I can beat Trojan Horse and I've already beat SurgicalStrike, but T-800 and AC are both still in the mix too. I haven't beaten any of the pre-tourney favourites yet, so let's just sit back and enjoy the ride... 1230

Good match Craaig. Shinigami is such an awkward bot that I didn't think I could hit its chassis consistently, so I'm plesantly suprised and my two KO's. Again, good match Craaig :)

Next time, post something along the lines of "If you rotated the extender holding the razor tips on 90 degrees, both razors would hit at the same time, increasing the damage your bot can do." It's really not that hard to do, Ribbs. If you have nothing constructive to say, please don't say anything. Quote from: life robot arena2;55106 Ribbs you are WRONG again. He was right, actually. Put a little more thought into your posts before you post them. You're only hurting your own reputation. Gameking: Do what Pwnator said, and also consider re-building your chassis. You need to make the bits that contain your wheels smaller (a good rule-of-thumb measurement for RAMotors is 3 spaces long, 1 space wide. They're actually smaller than this, but it should do at first). If you make the chassis smaller, you might gain the weight to switch to an HPZtek weapon motor, also increasing your damage. 1232

And that, children, is why we don't teach you how to do AAM :P
I remembered something about this bot being "not quite right" when I first saw it. About 89475 DDT's stacked together would do that. It still dosen't 1-hit KO the stock AI with their thick armour though. Time for an update :D 1233

Sweet Poppin' Corns was what it was called I think. I remember seeing it in either Clickbeetle's or Firebeetle's showcase on the old forums. Mabye post a request in Click's showcase for it. It was an epic flipper, was it not?

Tournament Archives / BBEANS5 Brackets and Videos« on: July 26, 2009, 03:30:45 AM »Quote from: Sage;54713 Once I'm on the flippers, I'm gone. That's not cheap at all to you? No, actually. To me, it's not. It's just an unfortunate by-product of your bot. You were able to cram more weapons on than any other spinner because of the crawler/dancer design, so with literally 360 degrees of better offense and defense than anyone else, your bot had to have an achilles heel of sorts, which unfortunately happened to be the arena flippers. Part of competing to win a tourney is designing a bot to battle not only opposition, but in a specific environment. It appears to me that you only really took into account the opposition, and you lost because of it. I hope I can put into words the sentiment about Bumble Bee around the forum: For the longest time, Sage built some of the most innovative and powerful bots around, and we all respected his ability to get the most out of his designs. For the longest time too, we all frowned upon bot designs that couldn't "show controlled movement," as Click says, because we thought that just having masses of spikes flailing everywhere wasn't a fair way to win, when it couldn't even track down an opponent on its own. Somewhere along the way, it got warped into crawlers, which are completely legit designs, are also unfair. So when Sage, who we all love, entered a cralwer, which we hate for some reason, basically we defaulted to something along the lines of "NO U." The only thing that I have against crawlers is that they are relatively easy to make in comparison to other bots, and it just seems like the lazy way out to me. I expected some epic HS-killing hammer bot out of Sage, and I was quite frankly disapointed by his entry, because he IS a great builder (I think I said this somewhere before...). I hope I haven't sounded harsh or anything. This post wasn't meant to be offensive towards anyone, and I apologize in advance if I do manage to offend someone. Also, the jokes are getting old guys, so stoppit >:O 1236

You too, Click. Timber's just so awkward, it's near impossible for a popup to land a good, clean chassis hit, and FdO's heavily armoured and quick enough to render Timber's huge hammer basically useless. It was never going to be an entertaining fight at least :P
I just wish that I didn't have to cheer against Timber this early. It's a sweet looking bot. 1239

Challenger by far. The Camaro's a distant 2nd, and the Mustang's waaaaay in last.
Fords were only nice before the mid-70's. 1240

I usually skim some topics. The only showcases I really read are of people like Sage, Inf, Click, etc. (Reier, Naryar and the like in DSL). Also, if I'm reading a thread and the first line of a post requires me decipher any "txt tlk," I just skip it. There's also some stuff I click on just to get rid of the flashy lights too :P
