True, I may need to work on it.

123
Splash page will be up this upcoming week. Then match ups will follow after.

124
Hmm... I'll have to look into it.

125
Once I finish the match ups. May take a little while. As you guys know there are three Tournaments. match-ups will be setup for all three. This way, once we go through one tournament, we can roll right into the next one.

This reminds me... Does anyone know of an efficient way to create brackets? Besides making one huge picture? The one in BBEANS is the kind of bracket I'm after. I want to be able put vids within the brackets.

Fear Ratings

This is the algorithm for Fear Ratings. A very difficult algorithm but it will be essential for future ratings. Note that it is all in pseudo code as will be most of these.
Code: [Select]
Fear Rating Algorithm (Updated   July 23, 2010)
      -Gig
    --------------------------------
(note that the "he" statement refers to a unisex term not a male one)

    1>>Check member's  registration to gametechmods.

-If he is a new member, immediately go to step 2.

-Otherwise check posts made by the member since his sign up date.

-Search specifically whether or not the member has had any arguments in   the past or present.

-For a Fear rating, persuasion is required in a negative sense, unless   it is a Veteran, a Staff Member, or both. Search for "Troll phrases"   like "you idiot","you're stupid", "n00b", curse words, derogatory terms,   etc. aimed at a member.

-If attacked member responds in a flaming/defensive manner or if   attacked member is defended by more than 2 Normies or 1 Staff in this   way. End Algorithm and no Fear Points are awarded to attacker.

-If attacked member responds in an apologetic manner, respectful manner,   or if more than 2 members or 1 Staff assists the attacker in this way.   Go to step 3.

    2>>For a new member who joined www.gametechmods.com

-Set his Fear Rating to 0.

-End algorithm now unless member is a Normie.

-Otherwise check posts made by the member after 1 month.

-Check responses to that member's posts within that time.

-//For a Fear rating, persuasion is required in a negative sense, unless     it is a Veteran, a Staff Member, or both.// Search for "Troll phrases"   like "you idiot","you're stupid", "n00b", curse words, derogatory terms,   etc. aimed at a member.

-Check to see if attacked member responded to attacker, otherwise or if   attacker was ignored End Algorithm //No persuasion took place// UNLESS   member was silenced from spamming, which in that case continue to   calculate.

-If attacked member responds in a flaming/defensive manner or if   attacked member is defended by more than 2 Normies or 1 Staff in this   way. End Algorithm and no Fear Points are awarded to attacker.

-If attacked member responds in an apologetic manner, respectful manner,   stopped posting in a particular thread because of the attacker, or if   more than 2 members or 1 Staff assists the attacker in this way.   Go to step 3

3>>Assign points to attacker only, assistants do not get points.

-Calculate the total number of members that was successfully persuaded   in favor of the attacker (with and without assists).

-Divide that number by 10 then by 2.

-If remaining number is a whole number, add that number to his total   Fear Rating.

-Otherwise End Algorithm if number is less than 1. If it is greater than   1, replace the decimal place with 0 to make it a whole number and   assign points. DO NOT ROUND.

    -End Algorithm

Finally! Here is the place where I will basically post any ideas, sketches, formulas, code scripts, all the nine yards whenever I see fit. Been meaning to do this for a while but never had a chance to. But now I will from time to time post my formulas on the things I make. Feel free to respond or give some feedback to these posts. I will greatly appreciate it.

And now a friendly shout out to remind those who are competing (using happy faces to lighten up the mood, but in all seriousness folks...) a list containing just some basic house cleaning stuff to ensure that competitors get their fair chance of entering. This list will change over time of course.

Also, if you guys can, feel free to remind your fellow buds about the list if their name is on it. Just to ensure that they are notified.

@Badnik - Ok Thanks

Those who need someone to AI their bots for them, remember that I am able to do it, as I've stated countless times before.

Simply PM me and I'll AI for you.

After sign ups are closed, I will go through your entries and check for validation one last time. Just to make sure I haven't overlooked anyone.

We're getting close...

Two days left until ELBITE Signups are Officially CLOSED!
To those who haven't submitted an entry, signups will be closed at 12:00 am EST on July 23, 2010. Make sure you are all ready to go by then..

I'm also currently waiting on Mad to PM me details on the arenas I requested. I know the result will be awesome. Afterwards the arenas will be announced and the opening event will begin. Also, HOPEFULLY The ELBITE website will also be complete in that time. You guys can expect a more pleasing visual experience when it's released.

On another note. As it really isn't a rule but more upon being more specific with the building rules. Somebody brought up a good topic.
Weight specs. Long story short, in this tournament, by all means you are allowed to stretch the weight of you bot to 399.00 kgs as opposed to the standard 398.9 kgs. This opens a small door of opportunity for your designs. Realistically in a lot of tournaments, this is considered to still be the MW class, so utilize that extra 0.1 kg wherever you need it.

For verification refer to this link on the official weight classes

@Groudon - Keep in mind that I will be able to handle your bots .py for you if needed. Just remember the limitations of that stated in the first page (AI rules).

GRAAH CAN'T BUILD A THIRD BOT

darn builders block...
Basically the same thing I can't think of a third bot. And could not think of names so I came up with random names.

Do we have to send the teams info in text and the picture for the team?
A picture would help but is not needed.

For information on what to send. Please check out the 1st post.

@G.K. - Yes you can send in 1 change to your team bots just like in the old ELBITE.

I will begin checking bots for validation starting this week.

ANNOUNCEMENT

Just want to let everyone know that the deadline for ELBITE will be the 22nd of July. I will no longer be accepting entrees on this date, so be sure to get all your final bots in. If there is a lesser number of entrants then expected, then the tournament will accommodate for a smaller tournament. For more info on how to submit, look at the first post.

Thanks, Giga

Something to note:

elbite.gametechmods.com as well as the Events logo will be going under a major aesthetic overhaul.

Things to note in term of changes by the end of May-Beginning of April:

-The webpage will be completed, and done almost completely using CSS scripting. Using less code in the creation of the website, the total filesize of the pages will be considerably smaller. This allows more possibilities for the site design as well as speed up its performance. You want the fastest speeds possible when your viewing match videos. Its also easier to deal with your files this way.

-ESIS will be reintroduced. ESIS Stands for ELBITE's Super Information-Based Software (or if your really tech savvy ESIBS). All of your winnings, prizes won, ranking, badges, ribbons, match requests, and more will be included all online. More of this will be discussed on the webpage.

- ELBITE Season's Champion Bot Exchange. Wanna play around with the big guys? After each season, The winning bots of the competitors will be available for download (with their permission of course). The bots will NOT include past won prize weapons used. The creator of the bot will be PM'd to make a "non-special" variation.

-All of the Season's Badge will go under a major overhaul. Details on what it will do is TBA, but let's just say that you will be able to view your badges in real-time on either your desktop or on the ESIS page. Again more will be announced soon enough.

-First, Second, and Third Place Prizes will be announced Soon. I may make a new Controls component or Wheel set... On a side note, after looking through the scarce indexes of my external hardrive. I thought that all of ELBITE was lost... However it seems that I still managed to save the arenas, aaaannnddddd One Very Important Element which will become THE GRAND PRIZE!

-More to announce in the future, this is an exciting event and I hope everyone takes a part in it.

Regards, Gig
