Off-Topic Discussion / Re: Zootopia
« on: April 17, 2016, 03:54:11 PM »
I really hate that I can't delete and/or modify Jonzu's posts.
Like... I don't mind that hes just posting gifs n' sh'it. But it serves as no actual contribution to the thread.
Just spreadin' the love~
(Image removed from quote.)
OK... But they're not adding anything whatsoever. There's no reason to post those other than "I really like the movie." We could be drawn to that conclusion from about 1 or 2 gifs in the same post.

Also, if you're gonna keep posting gifs, be careful of anything spoiler-y or anything. I had a Fire Emblem Fates gif in my signature that I realized was a slight spoiler to an in-game event and I didn't want to spoil anything, so I removed it. I assume you wouldn't want to spoil anything for anyone either.

All I've seen for this is a trailer and I have no clue what it's supposed to be. The only other thing I've seen is the quick video YourMovieSucks did on it. He referred to it as "The Furry Movie" (which imo seems about right) and he said the film was decent.

...I kinda have nothing else to add; I don't really know anything about this movie.

Real Robotics Discussion / Re: BattleBots Season 2 CONFIRMED

I'll be rooting for Photon Storm and BETA when ABC Season 2 airs.

Creepy crawlies sounds like a great yet hilariously flawed idea. Back in ABC Season 1, some of the Warrior Clan robots stopped after simply driving into the opposing robot, and that robot had 3 counterparts, let alone 5. Still, I can't say for certain until I see it.

I'm surprised no-one did the drone thing sooner. (not that I expected loads of drone entries.) Not sure how effective the flamethrowers would be from above, though...

This is shaping up to be a very promising season!

You don't have to be good. Just build a meme bot and get a free meme votes

Sadly, this is true. You don't even have to put anything inside the bot, really (as shown by entry #3 last month.
Well I certainly am not doing that. I want to build something that takes effort.

By the way, how do you make the skin for a robot more detailed? Mine's always pixel-y and low resolution.

My potential entry isn't going right. I'd do what Naryar said;
you should make a showcase so we can help
But wouldn't that reveal the entry? I thought I wasn't supposed to reveal that I was the creator of the thing I'm making.

please don't enter botm until you have at least some skill. no one cares about n00b bots in botm.
It's still worth a shot, though, isn't it? He can at least try.

I may end up making something for this. Or maybe not... Only started using DSL recently after not playing any version of it for a year, but I think I've used it enough to build something decent. Regardless, maybe I should just wait; I don't know what kind of thing to even build.

Back at a time when all the cars had race modifications. Never got to play this much, which to me is surprising considering how much of a massive GT fan I am.

Modifications / Re: Robot Wars RA2 - OFFICIAL MOD
« on: April 11, 2016, 06:38:58 PM »
The Foxic robots and Breaker Box AI also seem to have a phobia of using their weaponry.
Breaker Box can't really move the scoop effectively as a means of attack. It only really moves to A) Self Right and B) Breakdance. It's more of a rammer.
As for the Foxic robots, I tried to make them work, but I couldn't find what was wrong with them. The AI Foxic II has a flipper as opposed to a servo lifter, showing that it could be used by an AI, but even then I couldn't find what was stopping it from attacking.

Some of you have probably noticed that some of the AI are pacifists. Some of them don't use their weapons.
I realized this a while back, and made a fix for the robots that didn't use their weaponry (these were Storm II, Kan-Opener J-Spec, Lightning and Suicidal Tendencies.) I sent the fixed robots to Craaig to be included in a potential future patch update (just in case some things needed fixing) but seeing as he's busy with his own team at the moment (Team Nebula) I decided to just upload the robots here.

https://gametechmods.com/uploads/files/9612AI Fix With A Surprising Lack Of Envy.zip (Ignore the "lel envy is missing" type name, I didn't know what to call it)

File Contents:

     _ Team10 --> Bot1.bot (Kan-Opener J-Spec)
   /  _ Team18 --> Bot2.bot (Storm II)
  / /
 AI
  \ \ _ Team31 --> Bot1.bot (Suicidal Tendencies)
   \ _ Team38 --> Bot2.bot (Lightning)

Just extract that in the RWRA2+ folder and replace the original files (your computer should give you a prompt asking if you want to do this) and then you should be good to go! If there's any problems, I'll try to get another version of the download working.

Figured I'd post my Steam profile here, in case anyone wanted to add me.

http://steamcommunity.com/id/joeluofthewangan

I've not been on Steam recently for months; It's be nice to use it and play some games again.
The online games I play are Team Fortress 2, Garry's Mod, Worms: Revolution, Ridge Racer: Unbounded, Left 4 Dead 2, TrackMania: Nations Forever, The Ship, Disco Dodgeball and Metal Slug 3.

There's a bunch of single player games that I play too, but I'm sure no-one's really to fussed about hearing what single player games I play.

Site News and Feedback / Re: "Foul Language"

The staff admittedly hasn't been that on point as far as the minor offenses go. In the past week or so we've been working on ironing out the kinks on revamping our warning system and the ruleset that goes with it in order to ensure that all staff members are on the same page and working at the same level across the board in preparation for the influx of new users and/or increased activity when RA3 drops. Most of the credit this time around goes to Naryar for taking the time to break everything down. We should hopefully be finished up ironing it out and have it rolled out soon.
Anything you come up with will pretty much boil down to whatever Nary feels like doing, since hes the only one who's ever actually active.
how about you wait to see those rules before you bitch and judge them as "whatever Nary feels like doing" ?
bitch
Screw the foul language rule, I'm guessing?

was there any criteria to get a pass?
No, you were just given it. I think all you had to do was play TF2 within a certain time period (for xmas I'm guessing it was late December)

I mainly play Scout, with Scout, Soldier and Huntsman Sniper being some of my best classes. Decent at everything else, bar Spy. It's just too hard to play as him nowadays because people spycheck all the time.

This is just before I finish up the rebuild of the robot. I was wanting to ask;
(I'm not showing the whole thing yet.)

I turned the wedges upside down (180 degrees) so the wedge wouldn't be as steep, and therefore they would be more effective at getting in underneath other robots (theoretically.) Is that right, what I've done there? Is it better to do that or to have them the right way up? Or does it not matter either way?
