And, true to his word, Nary is the first to be entered in this.  Bot received and approved.

to those with the save-me-a-spot card, if you don't wish to enter this tournament, your card will carry over if you wish, but please let me know if you don't want to enter.

Allowing the thrusters was a bit of debate with myself.  I hadn't even realised the AI problems with them, and that's the kicker.  We're gonna go ahead and disallow the thrusters then...

Discussion / Re: What are your motivations to play RA2?
« on: August 25, 2011, 12:47:15 AM »
I've always most enjoyed the games that let you do your own thing, especially when you get to design.  If I can build/create in a game, it'll hold my interest long past when I should've just thrown the game away.

Take any wrestling game with Create-a-wrestler.  I'll actually play the game for about 6 hours total.  But I'll still create wrestlers for about a year or so, just to see what I can come up with.

RA2 is kinda like that for me.  I play to see what I can come up with.  If it had 20 or 30 premade bots you could play with, I probably would've stopped playing after a day or so.

I gotta admit, I'm a bit disappointed that Good Guys vs Bad Guys is on the back burner...but this seems like fun as well.  You've got a good mind for this stuff

even if it were realistic, there are reasons to use HAX mode in DSL concerning funky collision meshes and the like.

In light of the new bump up of entrant limits, I've modified the first post to reflect it.  This will now either be a 32 bot tourney or a 16 bot tourney depending on how many entrants I receive.

Joe, if I have somehow managed to misinterpret the new ruling, this will be bumped back down to a straight 16 bot tourney.

Also, green tick added.

Just out of curiosity, why no Havok restarts?  seems like it could lead to some major whinefests to me...

Hmmm...the new multibot rule gives me an idea, but the problem is, one of the is a 'good guy' and the other could be considered a 'good guy' or a 'bad guy'....

Heck with it, I'm just gonna go ahead and say I plan on entering the Brother's Majere, Raistlin and Caramon as a multibot and let you figure out the abiguity

while I don't see the point in rebooting the spiderman movies this soon, I DO like the POV shots of Spidey runnin on the roofs and wall crawling.

That's...frightening!  Can't wait to see it in action.  Also, that's some dedication to a theme, actually building it in the air lol

Just so you guys know, because those hoverpads are indestructible, I have added A LOT of HP to it, so when they get hit they will continue to give points for the full 3 minutes.  You don't want your bottom to get hit too much or you might just lose by points.

Quite an elegant solution to the problem 123.  Thanks so much for letting me use them for this.  I'm really lookin forward to what's going to come out of this one.

Should we need an ant battery for realism even if we don't use electric motors ?

hmmm...good point.  I'm gonna go ahead and add a rule that there must be at least one ant to justify the controlboard's power needs.

lol.  I guess that's really unfair, since I'd be just fine with Megadeth if it wasn't for Mustaine's voice annoying the heck out of me.
