Existing Games / Re: Robot Wars:Arenas of Destruction

I also have as a goal to get Matilda with her chainsaw into Extreme Destruction, so far though it's not without crashing the game...

Thats a challenge :P
Just grabbing the *.rwm file (Robot Wars mesh) and putting it in the Extreme Destruction directory, replacing it, won't work.

Gonna try comparing the chainsaw with the flywheel with HxD and see what I can dig up. The chainsaw, the only thing that makes Arenas of Destruction better, in my opinion.

EDIT: The two *.rwm files are completely different in hex, no use trying to change byte after byte to any kind of byte and figure it out, as it's going to take more than a lifetime…

EDIT2: Changing the texture of the flywheel to the chainsaw's texture worked just fine... hmm… but that of course won't do... I want the chainsaw instead of the flywheel.

Reading though the files in notepad++ is kinda funny lol
also just noticing in the Robot Wars arena you can change the pit tyre haha and change the middle jet to a flame jet omg I wish I could edit it and put it back together it would be so much fun haha
Indeed! the games, both Arenas of Destruction and Extreme Destruction are very moddable actually.

Any chance we would see what happens if you change the pit button? :P
I might do that someday as well XD

anyone remember the extreme destruction GBA game? probably the best official robot wars game imo
Yup. I've got that one. The box is kind of battered. But hey, it's still a perfect box, with the contents of the manual and cartridge in perfect condition.

That is so cool, You so have to release the game when you finished modding it :P

Yes. Maybe I will ;)

What else can you do with the games? :P

Well, as I understand it, a lot XD

Finally almost on the day after four years, I decided it was time to make my next replica. Mortis.

No paintjob or weapons, yet…

You can look it up at MegaGames I believe or GameCopyWorld. I don't want to share any links, as I think it could be against the rules of the forum.

Depends on how the game is coded. If I can find it in some file, it could be done. If not, probably not.

Is this IRL or RA2? Because if it's IRL this will cost quite a bit
I thought about maybe 3D printing in scale with the pullbacks that already exists, but I'm once again not sure about that either… it probably won't be for Robot Arena 2: Design & Destroy, maybe Robot Rumble 2.0. If the developer of that game is interested.

Slow progress... I'm currently sketching it in Blender to see what I can come up with. My imagination is kind of poor at the moment... but I will make this by myself. I may take inspiration from existing house robots, not sure... I may also have exaggerated with the weight of it (five to ten tonnes) which I might squeeze down to a maximum of two tonnes (metric tons, in other words 2000 kilograms).

So, here's the sketch. A very early and not so detailed one but that's not what I'm after at the moment. I'm looking for a base shape for the chassis and tracks. I'm also looking for a way to make the grease pencil "sketch" a bit more in Blender as now I think the grease pencil is a bit too thick and solid. I would want it a bit more smooth and thin.

Lastly, if anybody here knows Blender and knows how I can make sketching a bit more painless, then please don't hesitate to reply!

Not checked for a long time and might be remembering wrong. but i'm sure you can select one for the keyboard and one as a controller if you both don't want to use keyboard? Was it an easy fix for the issue you was having?
Yes. I changed some feature that I at the moment sadly don't remember. But I know it was in the "Video" tab of DxWnd, and that it was from SVGA -> Native :)

I can't seem to get either of the games running in windowed mode in DxWnd. It worked fine in say half a year ago… now it just crashes with the Windows crash dialog showing up sending information about the crash to Microsoft.

So, if anybody here knows or has any ideas of what it might or could be, please do not hesitate to reply!

The server could be gone. That usually causes a game to crash.
I'm sorry, but this is a single player game only. With "hotseat" support for two player's with either two gamepads or one keyboard for both.

EDIT: Nevermind, I solved it.
