Chatterbox / Re: SPARKEY RANT THREAD !« on: May 07, 2010, 04:47:41 PM »To be quite honest, I've never failed a class in my life. Me neither. But when did this thread stop being about Sparkey and start being about IQs? I think we should tempban him again. Hydro and LRA2 improved after that, and I think we've given Sparkey enough chances. Most of us have been really helpful to him, and frankly he refuses to take our advice! He has yet to contribute anything to the community, short of a laughing stock, and frankly if he would just take the advice we're giving he could. Sparkey get this message into your head: You could be a respected member of the community if you just take our advice and stop trying to do more than you're capable of. Here's a simple few steps you need to follow: Get DSL. Make bots. Get feedback. DON'T ignore the help we give you. And don't do a tourney until you can AI and make brackets! Notice how many times we've said to not ignore our advice? Please take our advice. 126

Scoliosisaurus!
The wings look good, but the rest of it is kinda problematic. The legs really look wrong for some reason. Can I ask everyone a stupid question? When I scan anything I try to make, it comes out not as lines but as a ton of little dots arranged like lines. You can see this a bit in Reier's drawings, on very thin lines, but for me it's everything. I've tried to fix this via paint.net, and the best I can come up with is by repeatedly blurring and sharpening the image. This makes it smoother, but also thickens the lines quite a bit. I'm just using a #2 mechanical pencil, so I don't think that's the issue. Does anyone else have this problem, and can anyone tell me how to fix it? 128
Off-Topic Discussion / Re: New Computer ?« on: May 04, 2010, 09:55:01 PM »My suggestion, build one from individually ordered parts. Contrary to how it seems, it's not hard. If you think about it, the parts come from all over the world and they have to make sure that anyone, anywhere can put them together. Each part will only fit in one place, one way. This is true, you really are just snapping premade parts together. There is a downside to this though: be prepared for four months of reading reviews and browsing Newegg before you're completely satisfied. 129

That is problem. But I'd take that over the flipper-flipper-flipper-flipper-flipper-Hypnodisk-flipper-flipper Robot Wars bots.

Solution is easy but not that cheap: buy a desktop mic.

WreckTangle isn't a good destructiveness test because it can't fight back or anything. Try that against a bot of a similar class, like Grog, or a bot that would be good against that design, like UnDeadBeat.
It doesn't look like a bad bot at all, just kinda bland. I don't think it would do that badly in actual combat. 136

Allow me to ask a rather late question: where are you getting the Razer claws for Apex Predator? I can't find them in the parts.
And yes, that is a good use of a hexplate 137

Sewer Snake=boring.
Was that Backlash 45 seconds into the first video? He tossed the other guy really high for such a small weapon. 138

I really like the motor armor on Hellish Uproar. How does the crawler even move, with lopsided weapon placement like that?

The gatling one reminds me of BattleTanx.
Reier> That's amazing, and I have no idea how you had the patience to draw that. I don't really like the tail blade, it doesn't really have the same style as the rest of it, but other than that the design is nice and consistent. |
