k thx heres another bot this one is for sure all dsl
(Image removed from quote.)

The Smart Zone Ballasts are from Firebeetle's Component Pack and aren't legal in tournaments (due to the fact they're so heavy and serve a function other than for AI).

If you get rid of them you can use the extra weight for more batteries (improve flipping power) and some stabilizers in the front (improve stability).

Wait, why do you remake bots so soon? :P

Do your bots not last more than one event, because the more recent apollyon has only had five fights, and you're already retiring it?

Lol, Explosion's had EASILY 50 fights by now, if not nearing 100

Keep in mind that US combat robotics is very spinner-focused, while the UK is very flipper-focused.  And spinners are a lot more destructive than flippers.

Case in point: Moros.

General Support / Re: Changing Background in DSL
« on: February 23, 2011, 09:50:34 PM »
FYI, the gray background color in stock RA2 is #262626 (38 R 38 G 38 B).

(I know this because it's also the background color for the BBEANS website and I use it a lot.)

If that's the case, you can try editing ra2.cfg in Notepad to ensure that the volume settings and nothing else important gets changed.

All the font files for RA2 are in RA2.cfz (in the main directory).

If you have those (try decompressing the cfz?) and it still can't load them there's probably not much you can do about it.

General Support / Re: Problems getting DSL 2.1 to work
« on: February 23, 2011, 09:37:32 PM »
Does stock RA2 work?

One thing you can do is replace the stock folders with DSL folders one by one and see at what point it stops working.  That will help narrow down the search.

My guess is it's something in the AI folder.  But that's just a hunch.

I remember Click saying that the blade has infinite torque somewhere though, so that could explain it...

Indeed.  No matter how heavy the target is, it will get flung away at whatever speed the blade is spinning at.

So did the SwitchDirRam.py I sent you not work?  Or why are you using Omni for Crocodile?

There shouldn't be any invertibility issues; plenty of other crawlers are invertible...

Discussion / Re: BBEANS Reuploads?
« on: February 23, 2011, 09:16:24 PM »
What?  Corrupted videos?  Missing videos?  Explain.

The only missing videos I know of are from BBEANS1.  If there are any others, I can reupload them from my computer (as long as the original files on my computer aren't corrupted too).

And if someone has the time to waste spend, I would be fine with having the BBEANS matches on Youtube.  They should be either on the GTM channel or in a special BBEANS channel though, and in a playlist like Somebody said.

Go ahead and shoot me down because it is a hairbrained idea

Hmm... OK.

1. It won't noob-proof the forum, it will only raise the minimum IQ/education level of its members (and behavior =/= intelligence)

2. Do you REALLY want to be forced to solve a high-level math problem every time you log in?

3. Yeah, I thought not.

4. A simple minimum age for registration would work better (but still has issues, notably that a lot of members on here now are already under 13 and what do we do about them?)

Can it still be called a juggler if the weapons aren't powered?

I'm not convinced it will be effective, but it's a cool idea worth trying.

Pastwatch: The Redemption of Christopher Columbus by Orson Scott Card.

It's about a machine that lets you see into the past, but then some researchers discover they can actually change things and decide to try and stop the European conquest of America.

Didn't Jonzu break his leg IRL after being hit with a car?
If so, you should have made him break it :P

But he didn't get hit by any weapon components. :P  That would have ruined the joke.

The Newmarket, NH Girl's Basketball Team has a girl on it with a last name of Linck.

LiNcK's sister?

I should make Rabid Bit Pull :P

Naryar already did.  Or was it someone else and Naryar rebuilt it for BTTB?

That's a LW right?

How well does it flip?

Also, although it does look really cool, it looks nothing at all like CRUSH.  Sorry.

Well... for the weight issue you could replace the flipper segments with carbon fiber extenders.  It's not like they're going to get hit very often.

For size... either the chassis will have to be slightly bigger, or if you have 1 kg, you could use the smaller control board.

If I'm imagining correctly how that bot works, it's still technically not a walker.  According to the RFL rules, if the motors are in continuous unidirectional rotation while the bot is "walking", it's a shuffler, not a walker.

Also, any good MW could still beat that even with a 400 kg weight disadvantage.

You could certainly replace the casters with some kind of weapon like Lightning spikes or maces, which would make it better.  But if all the walkers are going to use that setup, you might consider giving them an even greater weight bonus...

:O I just noticed that bot has 2 axle mounts.  I thought it had 4 angle motors at first.

Are the axle mounts as good as angle motors?

Looks good to me.  You don't see too many bots with triple wedges.

Serving the queen

AHH I should have known that was where that was going.  I lol'd.

Actually, the reason that honey bees' stingers get ripped out of their bodies is so the stinger will stick in the victim's skin and continue to pump venom even after the bee flies away, thus creating maximum pain and irritation.  Also, the stinger releases an alarm pheromone which attracts more bees to that spot so you will get multiple stings in the same area.  Since honey bee hives are so huge, the workers are more or less expendable and it doesn't matter so much if they die.
