If you follow the instructions and use the associated plug-in found on the RA2Wiki, you can make GMF files using any version of 3DS Max.

In the past he has said that he would release the DSL BBEANS Pack after getting all 3 basic weight classes. He also released the AIed versions of all the bots (nothing else) from the first two DSL tournaments so if you really want to see fight them, try to find where he posted it or see if anyone still has it and is willing to share...

I remember someone else wanting to make a new version of the RFS AI but was turned down by the original creator. So make sure that it is okay with him before releasing anything.

Double Post... I finished the Component Download section of GTM so I'll be moving onto the AI packs when I have time (unless someone else is already working on them (in which case, speak up)). Other places that we could get more component text files from include: rfshq, threads/sigs, and the AI Pack Download section of GTM. EDIT: If anyone wants to help, I can send them the batch file that I'm using to make things easier.... noob.gmf should probably have a text file added to it... Sliders_Components.zip contains 2 self-extracting files so I marked them seperately...

I had a couple hours to spare so here are most of the components listed under the GTM Component Downloads Section (I stopped after Goose's components but I'll start back up where I left off when I have time). If anyone else wants to help, you can start on the AI packs that have custom components, start on the other end of the components section, or take a look at the component database at RFSHQ.com...
ACAMS_Antiballast.rar and Combo_AI_&_SZ.zip are not included because they reinstall the stock components. Fedex_cocacola.exe is listed under the Component Download section of GTM but it really just changes the skin of some ARENAS. In fedex_mini_patch.zip I renamed fedexcomponents.cfz.txt to fedexcomponents.cfz but it doesn't appear to have any text files in it anyways...

if I place the targets on the bots the only thing is if one bot has that place covered.. I wouldn't be able to attach it then ? unless you had something else/ method in mind? I think Mad was thinking you could use his custom smartzones as a base (instead of a baseplate anchor) because they are setup so that you can attach anything to them and the smartzones themselves can go through any components that might get in the way. BTW, interesting tournament idea... Hope it turns out well.

I believe that the max sphere listed there is the same size as the one used in DSL because RA2 has a built-in sphere that isn't seen when you press F12 (unlike the loaded max sphere which can be seen). The loaded max sphere can be bigger than the built-in but it wouldn't matter how much bigger because the built-in max sphere would stop you before you reached the loaded max sphere.
Then again, I could be wrong... this is just being based off of the knowledge that there is an invisible wall that can't be seen by F12 that prevents you from making bigger bots in DSL while in stock there is an invisible max sphere that can be seen using F12 that prevents you from making bigger bots.

I use arrow keys for drive, space (button controls) or Enter (switch controls) for primary weapons, and B (button controls) or Right Shift (switch controls) for secondary weapons. I usually forget to add the switch controls though because I usually make the bot into AI (where buttons work better for rotating weapons when compared to switches). RA2 was my first computer game so when I added the controls, I went with whatever was most comfortable (I'm completely right handed) and made the most sense at the time.

Best Rookie - SurgicalStrike (R1885) Got far and faced several tough opponents.
Coolest Bot (Original) - 45-70 Magnum (ACAMS) It didn't seem quite as strong as some of the other competition but it was made to counter other bot types while still being able to hold its own against the others.
Coolest Bot (Artistic) - Stratocaster (Kill343gs) The skin looks great and effectively combines a classic and modern look.
Most Fearsome Opponent - Absolute Chaos (infiniteinertia) From the start, I knew my bot stood no chance against a 36 HS but the others didn't seem quite as effective (usually because the wheels were too far out) and this one had the biggest reputation.
BTSHDBBDDTBL - Mace in da Face (Venko) 36 HS vs an opponent that could have easily came out of the stock AI... The results weren't as unbelievable as ItI's previous fight (because we knew that it could do unexpected things for this fight) but with an exposed chassis and an opponent with 36 weapons spinning around, realistically the outcome should have been obvious...

Just to make sure everyone's on the same page (literally), he's talking about this. I would consider it to be a glitch because the chassis spins instead of the drive motors but I wouldn't call it NCR's glitch because its been done before (Volatile Partisan being one of the more famous bots using this glitch (even if it was for a different reason) and I believe that it was used before that too).

I made this excel file a while back that simplifies rotating things. You guys are doing things a little differently than what is being done in the excel file but for the most part, the end results are the same... Feel free to change it all you want. It currently has a converter for degrees to radians, a TM_ROW rotator (which probably could be made more user friendly), and a mesh resizer. I'm willing to help anyone that asks. Although I'm still open to helping people with other things, I know the most about Python and GIB files.

Although it might be easier to adapt Click's original idea so that it can move around hazards, if the AI wants to turn right but the bot is still spinning left, wouldn't it just slow down before going back to spinning.
Wouldn't it be better if you made regulated the RPM of motors so that the motors going in the right direction are going faster than the motors going in the wrong direction? Then to avoid hazards, you could adapt the DriveToWaypoints coding (like you suggested earlier). You could also program it to inch toward the opponent slower as the distance between the bots lessens so that it hits them with more force (Ex. while at 5 units away, the left side is moving at 80 while the right side is moving at 100 vs. while at 3 units away, the left side is moving at 90 while the right side is moving at 100). The force driving the bot forward would be less but the force spinning the bot would be more. Then it would still move toward the opponent, have roughly the same amount of force as if it wasn't, and get slightly more solid hits in (instead of scratches) because it is still inching closer. You could also tell it to check for hits using self.GetLastDamageDone() and if the opponent isn't recieving enough damage move closer or spin more depending on something user defined (Time between hits? Amount of damage?).
Another idea would be to make the AI hit the opponent with a certain weapon arm depending on the HP and speed of both bots toward eachother but thats probably pushing fairness.

Great idea, editting the tick interval. I never really found a use for the coding to change it until now... In fact, until I read Click's post, I was going to ask you how you got your debug window to update itself so much... I've been meaning to make a similar SnS AI but I'm amazed at how well you got it to work.
The Insanity Arena is cool but I have a couple arenas that change during the fight (none of which I thought of using the force command for even though I had the Matrix Arena).
