SURPRISE BUMP!!!
Decided to mount the wedge without the L bracket and reinforce with duck tape later. With that out of the way, I got all the wiring down (almost shorted out the batteries) on the first time and the controls are working well. I'll post a video after I zap strap all the wires to the chassis and attatch Styrofoam.

There is also a third robot I've entered, WE GOT DODGSON, that to the best of my knowledge is also the first of its kind in RA2 history. (It has not yet been unveiled so it's still a secret.)
