I think it might be something to do with cumulative results, like if you lost both your matches 2-1, you'll rank higher than someone who lost both their matches 2-0.
But by that, I meant that I lost ALL of my rounds. Maybe it's something to do with points earned during the fight, I guess.

 That's a relief, no dreaded last place.
Yeah, I was glad to not get it this time either, like I did last time. But one thing does puzzle me. If I was ranked #11, then that must've meant I ranked above at least one person, if say, 12 people entered last time. But if that's the case, who? I lost both of my matches back then.

How about an ice hockey arena, where the friction on the floor is extremely low, so you slide on it. Also there are hockey pucks that do damage when you hit another bot with them hard enough. And you get points for shooting the puck into your correct net.
Good idea, and if you shoot it into the wrong net, you lose points.

yep, something like this
I particularly like the sounds of Crushing Gears and the Fire-Belching Pits you could knock your opponents into. I mean, not just eliminated, but also in pieces!
