Probably the first stock fbs posted in a while.

2 niftys, dsa, bunch of razors

originally had flails and pistons but it took to long to spin up to be any good. I also wonder what bursts click used on thunder cloud, because this uses a blue snapper that loves to flex a lot.

Thunder Cloud uses a DDT.

I tried recently to make a Thunder Cloud 5 with a Snapper II, invertibility, and flails, but couldn't get it to have controlled movement (the momentum of the spinning chassis twists the drive so it can't move forward).  How does that one do?

Reminds me of a bot FB made a long time ago called Atomic Vomit.  I believe he used DDT wedges, plastic armor, and 4 razors though.

Good build... but the name implies that it rupts when it really doesn't.  :rage

the last line is not far enough indented?

Yup, it needs one more space (it has 3, needs 4).

FB's is just Dummy's with a couple added features.

So you got it to work now?

Hmm yeah, I didn't think about that this tournament would hold up some of the others.

All right, it's locked.  If NFX finds more time over the summer or something though, I may be persuaded to unlock it (since he didn't officially hit the deadline for completion).

Tired of those "EL" Perm belts that won't let you attach anything bigger than a chew blade without breaking the realistic rule?  How about those axles that appear to float in midair, "supported" only by the belt?

So am I.  That's why I did this.

The new Perms come with belt lengths of 40, 80, 120, and 160 cm, which is enough to use the 200 cm DSL bar without hitting the motor. FINALLY, you can make Tombstone replicas!

They also feature a metal support bar incorporated into the gmf, so there are no more floating axles.  This bar is purely aesthetic; it does not have any collision, so you can't use it as invincible armor when attached to the baseplate (although the axle does still have collision and you could in theory use it as armor, but you can do that in DSL2 too and no one does it).

And finally, it's hard to notice but the Perms now have a proper skin for the belt (if you look closely at the old Perms, the belt skin is just the motor body skin looped over and over).

Oh, and I have an ANNOUNCEMENT:  I would like somebody to make a new saw blade gmf for DSL3.  As in, with all the teeth modeled, not just a smooth disc with a .tga with a tooth design applied to it like the stock saw blade.  More like the chew blade is what I'm thinking, but with more teeth.  I could make it myself, but it would be rather time consuming working with that many polys, so I'm seeing if anyone skilled at 3DSM will lend a hand.  ;)

my girlfriend

Ah that explains it.

I'm gonna hold off locking this and putting the final nail in the coffin, so to speak, until you're absolutely sure you won't finish it.  Maybe give it until summer.  Unless you're absolutely sure now.

All HS in my fight?  I couldn't have asked for a better matchup if it was rigged!

As long as none of them sneak up behind me and take off a wheel, I should be able to pull off at least a second place.  Next round however... if I face Vertigo or 123 I'm probably toast (unless 123 self-OOTAs).

I'm going to take a wild guess here and say that AAM and BFE aren't allowed.

A better question would be are multibots allowed?  Stock SHW is hardly ever done and I'm betting a lot of people haven't even built one, so it will be tempting to enter a HW and a MW as a multibot.

I actually had a similar idea to possibly implement in BBEANS7 that would weed out some of the weaker bots and make room for the more competitive entries, without unfairly excluding anyone.

It goes like this: you pick some number of reasonably tough AI bots (say, 3-5) as 'test opponents', and everyone who enters has the option of providing screenshots of their bot beating some or all of those AI bots.  You don't have to beat any of those bots if you don't want to, BUT:

Priority is given to entries with the greatest number of screenshots of defeated test bots.  If signups are full and someone then enters a bot with screenshots of it beating all 5 opponents, then the entries with the least screenshots would get kicked out to make room for the entries with screenshots.  If there's a tie for least number of screenshots, then it goes by date of entry (so early entries still have an advantage).

Also, the test opponents you pick should be different bot types, like a wedge, a HS, and a VS or something, so if there's some bot that's really good against HS but bad against wedges, it can still provide some screenshots and secure a place.

Feel free to use that if you want.  BBEANS7 still won't happen for a while and this would be a good test of the system. ;)

That's a lot of weapon weight for a LW VS.

Very nice way to be efficient with the drive setup/stabilizers.  It looks like it might be a bit tippy (in the backwards direction) though.

Also, those polycarb extenders might not fare so well against some of the popups in BBEANS AI... but very nice bot regardless.

Whoa that bot is awesome.  Inf's comment about lack of originality got to you and you had to build something original?  ;)

It probably needs to be a bit faster in order to be really good though.

Actually, if you go by the weight distribution theory of wedge effectiveness, putting the burst motor at the back should make the best wedge possible.

The biggest issue with this bot would be stability.  You need some (static!) side stabilizers (plows work good).  You can get some extra weight by using a square 140 cm extender for the wedge, if it's not against your building ethics.  You can also get away with a Snapper 2 rather than a DDT.

Is that... a Small Arena skinned like a Combat Arena?  :gawe:

And I don't recall seeing Mini Hellbringer in your showcase.  I'm guessing it's an axle FS?

Beauveria bassiana fungus growing out of his back?

Yeah... and it can infect beetles too! :P

  You stay away from me!

Anyway, here's a quick short comic based on the recent SOTG drama and the probable reason why there aren't more female members on here:

I seem to have won a match!

^I saw that first before anything else and thought Hydro beat kill 2/3.  Then when I saw the bots I was like, HOW?

How did you make that intro Joe?  Is it some object you designed in 3D Studio Max and then just spun the camera around?

I'm actually suprised Mini Prodigy failed as much as it did, but YEEEEES

And I've actually learnt a valuable lesson...

NEVER USE COPALS FOR DRIVE UNLESS IT'S A FW.

Well, it doesn't help any that your weapon scrapes the ground, pushing the bot backwards so it can hardly drive.

The restaurant at the end of the universe :3
and my parents had a little argument over if it was right to call it a trilogy of five, saying that trilogys are 3...
I just wouldn't get involved

That makes it a pentalogy.

Right now I'm reading Hood by Stephen R. Lawhead, a retelling of Robin Hood which takes place in Wales.  So far it is very good.

S32

(Image removed from quote.)

The funny thing is, if you look past all the green skin and the exaggerated facial features and goblin body, it almost looks like S32's avatar (which I believe is a picture of himself).

I didn't know you were an economics major, and honestly would never have guessed it.  I wouldn't think that economics and art would mix well.

Edit:

ENOUGH WITH CUTE CHARACTERS

Is that Beauveria bassiana fungus growing out of his back?  If so, Urjak needs medical assistance fast!  Don't let that stuff go untreated!

You must be pretty strong-willed.  I can stop myself from buying the newest game system for a few months after the release date, but I crack as soon as they realease a game I want. (In the case of the 3Ds, it will probably be Paper Mario).

Nah, it was more that I had other games I was still playing at the time and didn't need any new ones.

No doubt that will be the case again with the 3DS, with Pokemon White and Radiant Historia both on my to-play list.

As soon as I had an opening though, I would probably cave for Paper Mario.
