Stock Showcases / Re: Devinthebest's Showcase« on: August 31, 2012, 06:31:30 PM »I posted it first ya know :)ugh... This is my new bot called J.E.T What you're doing so far is OK, but you're going to watch to shrink the chassis, at in some HPz's, give it shiny hub wheels, and try to focus the side spinning blades towards the front. Also the plow on the back is sort of unnecessary, AI robots don't attack the backs of robots (but if you have the weight, feel free to leave it. I'm not going to try to dictate the way you design things). try to get a frontal weapon setup similar to this (Not that I am telling you that you have to copy every single feature of a robot that is in the RA2 Hall Of Fame, that is just to give you a feel for how gut rippers and face spinners can be set up) One thing you always want to try is to keep the robot chassis as protected and as far away from the opposing robots as possible, some builders even use setups that have every robot part mounted on an external extender rather than inside (sans batteries and control board, they cant leave the chassis unfortunately.) an example would be my lightweight, "Brain" ![]() Everything except for what has to be is outside of the chassis and the chassis is far back and protected by the weapons. Feel free to try doing this yourself on larger robots :) 1124
Off-Topic Discussion / Re: General Chatter Thread« on: August 31, 2012, 06:21:12 PM »What? Are you calling one of the oldest idioms there is a MEME? You are highly misinformed, pedowanPoor meme. Think about something better and creative.you seem angry.i'll probably only be posting in the TF2 and highlander threads. and occasionally here.Or you could just go completely and forever, but why would you give the people what they want? Lol Scourge we've reached a time in society where "meme" can refer to a picture of a penguin with a lame caption over it. Don't even bother trying to tell others what it means any more. 1125

Updated
![]() ![]() I swapped out the second popup arm for a somewhat weight wasting feature that I have wanted to try for a while now. Because of the robots odd chassis size, and the fact that I had to snapper load the Zteks in to get the wheels to touch the ground, I set up a servo motor with a black extender that could be raised and lowered to keep the robot stable. ![]() (The stabilizer shown here sticking strait up, normally it is down and you cannot see it.) 1126

The axes on the sides are not going to do much, you might want to swap them for some ramplates or plows. Unless you're going for good looks.
I don't know much about building rammers in general, so I will let the other more experienced builders help you on from here :) 1127

I like the merged outside/inside shots :) First off, you will want to shorten the chassis so that it is about the height of a ztek, switch the motors with Hpz's, give it smaller wheels (I recomend slipper bottoms) and try to get more spikes on there, preferably with baseplate anchors.
You will also want to check out this link for some handy building tips :) http://beetlebros.gametechmods.com/tutorials.htm Good luck! 1128

I figure I might as well post this candy ass "no batteries" bot that I tested earlier, since I showed it off in the Skype group as well
![]() then it's too tallYeah, I will definitely be re-constructing the whole robot later on today (hopefully after I get some sleep) so I can incorporate better wheels/drive, and hopefully more weapons. I have to say the idea of making caster armored robots that flip themselves over at the beginning of the round is one of the funnest things I have tried in RA2 so far, so expect more of that. 1130

Although it might not be the most efficient weapon setup you could do, I do quite like it. Like click said you could rotate the HPZs out so that the maces are on the outside, Or you might be able to swap them with Irons and attach irons to the inner points on the disks and create a drum like robot.
