Discussion / Re: Flail SNS unrealistic?
« on: July 20, 2011, 08:06:45 PM »
Flail SNS are realistically unrealistic. It's realistic in the fence that it's possible to build one but unrealistic in the sense that it's stupidly powerful in RA2.
In another word, it is DSL Realistic, but should not be allowed for IRL stuff.

Although, stuff like metal hinge wedge or weapon spamming should also fall into this category.

And then the problem arises when we realize about 90% of the game mechanics does not match IRL.  IRL realism then becomes too vague in any competitive sense.  I can just as easily argue the things that are working in this game are "realistic" where the things not working are "unrealistically underpowered".  When I watch IRL battles I see big damage and parts flying around after a few hits, but the IRL builds on DSL can't kill after 3 full minutes.  Therefore IRL can only emulate look, because DSL can do so accurate, but not function, which is impossible in DSL no matter what restriction you put in.

DSL realism by contrast is very easy to understand without going contra to RA2 mechanics, so competitions and combat effectiveness are more relevant here.

Not long after Backlash = Soon after.

It's like a Zeno's Paradox in action.

BUT I PUT IT ON A COPAL :trollface

Yeah vote will probably get rid of stuff like that.

Anyway here's Tread HS with 459kg.  Not the most IRL weapon setup, but then again not planning to use this either.

Thanks.  30kg per Heavy Tread and 10kg per Light Tread seem rightly priced.  This is assuming that the IRL rules prevent people from using static tread as armor of course.

- Bots with treads get a 100 kg weight cushion.

Am I the only one who see a problem in this rule?

I think it's any amount can enter, but only 16 can be voted in.

I think this is realistic enough for this?

I would suggest the tread bonus be lowered to 60kg.  With 100kg bonus Heavy Tread will only cost 10kg each.  Which is really broken with it's 1.5 tracking and 12000 HP.  And can you be a bit more specific about the difference between crawlers and walkers?  Either way I think 800kg is too much since that is like a free drive system plus 600kg worth to build the rest of the bot with.  600kg will be more sensible.

I don't know the interpretation of these IRL stuff, but I do know that trying to use the chassis to take the hit for any motor is just crazy.

Just use a motor with HP.  Having exposed chassis take any hit is never worth it.

Can someone explain to me why the motor needs to be inside?

You know after Naryar left and Ounce stop posting, nobody really cares about combat effectiveness anymore.  It's all about the looks nowadays.

Paint it RED, add some spikes.  Come on, it's a pun, you might as well make it resemble the 666.  My Twilight Sparkle looks more menacing than this.

Seeing as how you don't know what a 36HS is, I have to assume you don't care enough about what other people build to ever look at showcases.  I neither play Stock nor look at Stock showcase and I still know what a 36HS is.  And, not caring enough to showcase your own bot makes this worst.

Running a tournament doesn't simply mean how often you play the game on your own.  You have to actually care about other people's bots because curiosity is the only motivation you will get during the filming/uploading process, which is tedious and unrewarding.  Some of the more boring matches you won't even get response from anyone.

Unlike most people, my advise would be, don't host a tournament for a game you don't play or care about.  You will lose interest half way and waste everyone's time.

You see, at any time you mod DSL2 you run into the problem of legitimacy.

A lot of good can come out of minor tweaking, but it doesn't happen because they instantly become custom components when anyone outside tries to tinker with it.  It's just like how NAR AI tries to do minor changes and instantly the whole community takes a step back, installing only the AI folder and nothing else.

So yeah, nobody mods it because nobody will play the modded version.  Your best bet it to suggest it for DSL3, [troll]it might even come out before backlash[/troll].

Discussion / Re: VOTE for RA2 Hall of Fame
« on: July 14, 2011, 09:40:32 PM »
The problem with SnSnSnSnS was that it stops working once open arena becomes popular.  So it didn't really left much impact on bot building.

Not that RPP contribute anything to SnS building either.  It is more like the end of the road than anything.  Aside from a bit more external armors, it hasn't really changed from the first incarnation.  I probably contributed more to killing SnS than making them.

I might have some idea how Mako inspired VS, and FnF inspired the use of heavy plows, but I have no clue as to how the rest of the bot affected anything.

So I guess I shouldn't be voting.

Fixed!
And why do you assume that I would buy an MLP toy?
Because it's not like there are other unicorns out there that you can get your hands on.....
That's what she said!  :trollface
So you DO have MLP toys then.

ITS LIKE JERSEY SHORE ALL OVER AGAIN!!!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEZZZZZZZZZZ!!!!! D:

Honestly, I dont think we need any more proof, I mean... Why would they lie? What do they get?
Its basically a loss of everyone's time if its fake, Theyll be like: HAHA! You believed us.
So?

Theres no point in lying that you discovered a new glitch really... Atleast for me, Too much works making the vids & To just say that it was a lie & Troll everybody.
Not worth MY time atleast :\
Just because "Sage and SD posted it" isn't good enough.  Why might they lie?  Attention.  After all, what's the point of even telling everyone they found something if they not going to share it?  Attention.  I guarantee that if no one responded to this thread from the very start they would have been disappointed.

So attention is certainly what they wanted, the only question left is how far will they go to get it.  Besides we are on a forum where people will fake their own suicide and gender just to troll.  Not believing without evidences is a good measure to take.  Again this is something universal and not specific to Sage or SD.
