Chatterbox / About Ian.
« on: October 31, 2012, 04:49:32 AM »

*I don't have the best social life.
*An illness made me drop out of school, never graduated year 12.
*The same illness means I can't enjoy things like take-away food and even basic white bread.
*I was bullied a bit at school.
*Even home life can be tough.
*I don't drink, smoke or do drugs. I believe you can have fun without all those things.
*over the past year I have lost 2 special family pets.
*I came here to let out my creative side as I don't have any artistic talent.
*I was raised with the saying "if you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything".
*I will defend myself if my character is attacked.
*I was mad that people would rather spend time talking about silly things then take notice of my work.
*I did everything here for you guys not for my own ego, I just loved being creative with tournaments and such.
*I have always wanted to make others happy, often caring about others more then I care about myself.
*I had over 30 gig worth of RA2 on my PC.
*I had almost 200 RA2 videos on my youtube.
*I wish I could find a place to let out my creativity, my dream is to make games that allow the player to create certain games (based on the title) from a simple menu interface with a variety of options etc.
*I believe back in the day was better, you could get 32 entries for tournaments no problem. People here don't care about the game as much as back then.

Anyone who knows me knows I'm a nice person, it sucks that here I come of as a drama queen considering I have done more for the community then I have done for anyone else.

Leaving, won't be back. A few people have ruined this for me (they know who they are). Thanks to all those over the years who have:

*Supported the game and forum.
*Helped me when I was a noob.
*Supported my tournaments and AI pack(s).
*gave me feedback in my showcases.

Special thanks:

*Trovaner - It was really nice of you to build an arena for me to use in my tournament, I hope you never get this treatment that I have been getting.

*Clickbeetle - Best tournaments hands down, the reason I got into the tournament scene.

Why I'm leaving? well put it to you this way.. people like Enigma would find it cool to post here and say something along the lines of "you won't be missed" like the hardcore rebel he is. I don't believe in online bullying and this forum has too much for me, so instead of clogging up the forum with flamewars I will leave.

build your chassis around the components by following these steps:

1. Make a basic chassis then put your components in.
2. Look at free space in the chassis and rebuild the chassis.
3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 until you get an airtight chassis.

You can eventually get a good feel for how much space the components take up and when that happens you hardly need to rebuild.

A trick for finding the sides on the round extenders is by looking at the face and rotating it around until the flat side that connects objects is where you want it. It's much easier looking directly at the face of the extender and judging where the connection point will be.

Naryar is now added to everything.
This probably won't end well...

I'm not so sure about my chances against these supergay crawlers, really. The rest, possibly.

I didn't entered to win, but to test my bot's might.
But you seen the bots :P speaking from experience about the whole showing entry thing (remember when I tried to change my Robo Zone 2 entry?) there will be people complaining because you have seen all the entries.

Still awaiting G.K to clear up those rules.

Also you are building AW stock AI pack and an "I DON"T ACCEPT NEW BOT" pack....  Like just maybe they are not the most interesting things in the universe...
I know people don't like them much, I've been trying to encourage more sub-weight building but it turns out that only I can come up with new AW designs :P things that weren't done before me:

*AW wammers, Unicorn is a good example.
*Axle spinners including a 4 razor HS axle spinner :)

I'm not the best builder here, nowhere near it so I know you guys can do something even better.

Well, it'll pretty complicated, and only RPG enthusiasts (amongst others, I and Madman) would really be interested.

Hell i see a few game breakers already...
>start with LW flipper set
>get under Big Dog and Snowjob, and immobilize them
>win 2 boss battles
>instant HW status

but really Stock ai RPG should be just a template, because no one is gonna fight stock ai except the nubs because it's so weak.
you need to progress past bosses in the order, plus before you face a boss you need to clear a path to them by defeating other robots. It's intended to be the template to test out the system.

Here's an example of a flipper starter kit:

So you can see it's only the basics needed for that bot type but the more loot you collect the more variety there will be :)

*Challenge board on a much bigger scale (might even need it's on sub-section in tournaments).
*You build a bot with the components you start with (different starter kits are available).
*You send your bot to the host and tell them which path on the map you want to take.
*They record the matches and post them.
*There will be a virtual dice roll for components dropped by that opponent. This should be recorded and posted (the hat or another list shuffler is good for this).
*The player then edits his/her bot with the component won.
*Boss battle victories give you a larger weight limit.

We could have a topic to keep track of everyone's progress, for example:

*Bot name: SFTW
*Bot type: Saw-bot
*Bot level: 1
*location: Bridge of Doom
*Components: 2x Reverse angle motor, 1x Chewblade, 2x Shiny hub wheel.
yeah thats probably too complex to last more than a day or two, simple things like tournaments (naryars tourney you were complaining about for example) tend to have a much greater chance of people caring than this system
What makes it too complex? updating entries? getting new parts to update entry? recording a few videos per bot each round?

Seems like people don't enter BOTM due to splash skills, I have the same problem as seen by my pitfall splash  :laughing .

I too was expecting more entries, most people seem to prefer DSL.

We've had a little sample of what he has planned to release I believe.

So we're just supposed to use this chart to set up our matches?
Yup, you need to defeat some "normal" opponents before you get to the boss (as you can see in the original post's example map) so you need to select a route for your bot.

Discussion / Re: Excellent but impossible suggestion for a game mode
« on: October 27, 2012, 02:42:49 PM »
It starts with 2 robots, then another robot joins after 30 seconds then the last bot joins after another 30 seconds. If a robot is destroyed within the 30 second period then the next one joins in.

The arena comes with multiple modes including:

*Rumble mode - every bot for itself.
*Gauntlet mode - 1 bot tries to defeat 3 bots in a row.

(Note: it's not actually my arena, it was created by Trovaner.)

Bump! are people happy with the boss layout? If so we can move onto setting up the rules/loot/level maps/starter kits.

1099
Why I am losing interest again:

*0 help on the new AW AI pack.
*1 team for the GTM AI pack.
*No feedback on the new RA2RPG boss set-up, barely any on the general topic.
*12 views on the Robo Zone 2 final video.
*My completed Robo Zone 2 tournament topic has almost 1000 less views then nary's 1 round so far tournament (roughly 2 hours vs 33 mins total video time).

I fear that if Trov releases any mods these days he wouldn't get the thanks he deserves, instead people would just download and play the mod without saying anything or ignore it completely. People put in time to provide the community with new and exciting things so I can see why the community is lacking new AI packs and Arenas.

Some questions:

1. What do you want to see more of?
2. Why don't you comment much? (ignore if you do).
3. Where do you spend most of your time on the forum?
4. Do you watch tournament videos that don't feature your own bot?
5. Why don't you enter BOTM?
6. How many AI packs do you have?
7. Do you play stock, DSL or both?
8. What have you given to the community?

I tried to get the bot to match the arena as much as possible and still be effective. Any more suggestions guys?
