Other Tutorials / How Power Consumption Works
« on: October 29, 2009, 03:53:50 PM »

I found that total power and BEMIOR are indeed additive.  So 1 battery with 1000 total power and 100 BEMIOR is the same as 2 batteries with 500 total power and 50 BEMIOR.

Not sure if this'll be a 'duh' moment or not but...

I can challenge that statement - I made a bot that uses two custom battery packs - One that has 200,000 total power and no BEMIOR, the other with no power but 2750 BEMIOR. It was just an attempt to see if it was possible to have components that boost a certain aspect - say like, fitting your bot with a BEMIOR booster.

The bot was a LW with custom motors that drain as much, if not less then a RAD. Two Snappers as well. So assuming batteries are additive; 200000 total power and 2750 BEMIOR is WAY more then enough.

But in reality - the bot can't even move. It's like it didn't have any batteries at all. It seems the only thing that is additive about batteries is the HUD power meter.

:| You put Redline203.

Ah well. Not the end of the world.

DD (Oops. Atleast Double Damage is referred to as DDMW) is pretty solid, hate to admit it's far superior to BFR. the wedge is largely untested but it's hard for a bot to get up onto DD like other popups, because of the casters. Still, a bot with hampered offense is still better then a defenseless bot.
Ofcourse the backs are exposed - which means more in a full-multibot competition like this. Damn, if only I had it for BBEANS. I'll have to try kick AC's ass.

Mostly afraid of Clickbeetle's Trial - Overcutting can get past that caster armor. A good few shots would be deflected but that's still damage.

And why is that?

Can't see it being that simple.

This is a relevant question.. still dunno how after a few weeks... how do you make a 512x512 skin? It can't JUST be making the import skin file larger.

Not here. No slowdowns, heck, can say that the game runs too fast. A little.

Gonna leave you guys in suspense untill I finalize it. Try to guess what is is if you want, nothing real special.

The obvious guess is a wedged rammer. Uses iron spikes it seems too.

I went through the files and it looks well thought-out (and 'mod-able' too)...

YES

YEEESSSSS

Only complain here is the driving controls. Cannot get used to them.

That was very close! Round 2 could of went either way, and Round 3 had me changing my mind on the winner every time.

What a cheap win.

That's just standard robotic combat really. Would a pure flipper be thought of in the same way when it overturns a bot with no means of getting back onto it's right side?

10 days is a very tiny amount of time for people to put something together and get it in, you have been quite lucky to get the amount you have on such a strict time schedule... perhaps you need to extend a little longer so you can get the bracket filled

Raw 2 build time - 1 month 7 days

CC2 build time - 1 month

BBEANS 5 rules, arena, etc announced 2 months before registration

see what I mean ?

That thinking is logical, but you haven't refered to a far-reaching range of tournies - they're all quite competitive aren't they? The higher prestige ones, the ones that people want to win. Especially BBEANS.

What about N00b Warz? The atmosphere in the tourney topic alone is much more relaxed.
.. My date-to-date counting is poor but it was around 17~18 days for NW2. Suppose it still supports your request to give more time to build, as totally casual, no skill tournies still have longer reg periods.

General Support / Why does this happen?
« on: October 20, 2009, 09:42:21 AM »
I believe so. When driving on the "flipper" ramp in the DSL test garage, a slow-moving bot will stop and have reversed controls until it gets back on the garage floor.

It must be similar to that. So yes.

People just go with what they're good at ya'know?

This'll be good. Not happy with my draw (Theoretical high chance of losing) even though this is a fun tourney. Atleast it's just a chassis wedge.

What would that be?
