I guess battlebots came out of nowhere. They informed some teams before the official annunce and the others had enough time and money to build a new HW.
As for Robot Wars it was just a matter of time after battlebots came back. Guys from the life show have known about something like that before and I guess there are people on GTM who are in contact with em
