Just sent in my entry. It's a bit lame, but it does a decent job in combat.

mcmaster.com is my main source, listed under plastics near the bottom of the page. Easy to work with, for me at least. Abrasive disks go through it fast, but you need breathing protection. Fiberglass dust=bad.

Got a bit more work done, getting the Ti and garolite parts closer to done tomorrow. Will probably finish them early next week. Cutting Ti on a bandsaw isn't exactly an easy process.

DSL TC Showcases / MikeNCR's Bots« on: February 25, 2009, 08:28:40 PM »![]() Mr. Krinkle 398.6 Managed to beat Critical Emergency with it, so I know it's at least decent. Should meet all the 'realistic' rules as the Irons don't move through anything but a bit of the wedges. ![]() Decent sawbot ![]() 1026

This is driving me nuts.
A few years ago there was a DSL(I think) antweight tournament. I remember doing well in it but can't remember what bot I used or which tourney it was. Pretty sure I had a fairly simple bot with caution tape painted sides, but that's about all I can remember. Anyone got a memory that goes back that far? Edit: Not an AI tournament Edit2: Beetle tourney, definitely DSL. Found a pic of the bot- ![]() AIM and time zone are now out of date. Edit3: Found the tournament. DSL TC Showcases / MikeNCR's Bots« on: February 23, 2009, 09:13:58 PM »![]() Closest thing I could get to a replica of the bot I'm building using stock components. It certainly hits hard enough. The Astros and tiny wheels don't quite have the speed though. 1028

You don't have anything (visible) in the rammer that would need that pneumatic tube. Burst motors are all electric.

Thanks for the compliments. The Undertaker bots were an experiment that worked quite well. UT is a bit better at the original goal that UT2 is, but UT2 hits a fair bit harder.
As far as bot styles and that sort of thing goes, for the most part I just like building bots in game that could potentially be closely reproduced in the real world. Edit: Fear the Sawz-All ![]() 1033
Modifications / The DSL 3.0 preview thread« on: February 20, 2009, 10:53:47 PM »Quote from: Sage;29406 it's at the same height. Only when the extender is vertical. If you use the side attachments, which is where the "problem" is, effectively allows you to choose from two different heights. 1034
Modifications / The DSL 3.0 preview thread« on: February 20, 2009, 09:49:02 PM »Quote from: Sage;29390 the one attachment point that is pushed in farther makes it really hard to put them symmetrically in the chassis without taking forever to do so. it you could just push out the one AP so it's equal to the other then that would be great. you can't really use a different extender cause they don't attach to the chassis. There is one other thing to consider: How many bots specifically take advantage of the skewed attachment point to set components at a different height? 1035

The piston hammer thing is either able to completely dominate its opponent or gets utterly dominated. There is *NO* middle ground with it.

It may be a bit boring, but a replica of the Combots arena might be nice to have. Could have the floor between the I beams and the wall act like the pit in the RW arena.

yeah, they'll probably get a bit bent up, but that's what the FuBarIII is for.
