DSL TC Showcases / Re: 090901's DSL showcase.
« on: October 03, 2016, 08:00:10 AM »
Sweet, wonder how you attached the second set of triangle plates, also good to see that I'm not the only one entering a "artbot"(althrough yours should have the better performance while mine is about advertising a new building style which was originally planned for a new mod), wonder how messed up the mapping is on the triangle plates.

Site News and Feedback / Re: Trov: It's Time To Stop
« on: October 02, 2016, 03:46:07 PM »
While I think it's a bit harsh to ask Trov to stop, I do think that giving As and Yugi mod would be good, they've both been very friendly, helpful and polite(not something I can say about every member) all the time.

Tournament Archives / Re: GTM Robot Wars - Signups

And we're done! The 36 bot lineup has been filled in less than 24 hours since signups officially opened.

You guys are amazing!

I now have to go into hibernation a bit to get the AIing and Splashes done, but I'll be back with you all hopefully within a few days.

Thank you all!
Already? that was quite fast and I expected it to slow down for a bit.
Skin updates are allowed, right? I forgot to add the glowing part back to my bot when I was fixing the skin texture mapping.

new users trying to submit robots for tournaments can't find it because it's tucked away in a tiny corner of the main page, hell i'm annoyed i need to click through 3 different pages to find it. what was so bad about having it on the top of the page anyway?
^
This
Makes new users not bother with it and upload it on other websites instead, add it so we can have a bigger DB of robots(and also fix some of the errors it generates while viewing)

Stock Showcases / Re: R01's Showcase Thread

I've decided to leave/take a break from RA2 and this community. Sorry to disappoint you, but I was never the kind of dude that would fit into a "4chan" like group(which is what playground in my view is). This doesn't mean that I won't check here once in a while(there's still like 4 Tournaments where my bots are in),occasionally build a bot, or talk to the people that I've added on Discord.

see ya in a few days
heh :P I already took a two month break earlier on, also depending on how much free time I have, I'll create bots once in a while, so see this post more as a "I won't be as active and sadly don't see this becoming my main community"

Custom Components Showcase / Re: LiNcKz' Retooled Showcase

True, I found the motor part a bit annoying as well(really wonder why we can't attach it to the baseplate? Caster armor?) and the drive ones sadly only exist in length, not width(or a mix of both), only two snappers and if you were seraching for servo pistons and linear actuators, then this isn't the mod for you.

Custom Components Showcase / Re: Thrackerzod is bad at Retooled
« on: October 01, 2016, 01:06:25 PM »
Heh, one of the good things that Retooled is good for.
It does look nice, however I'd add teeth to the higher part of the mouth, almost looks like he has 4 eyes, as well as moving the chest part a bit up.
I know about the original Mr Bones, however this reminds me of Obwalden Overlord now. Is the chassis unchanged from the original as well?
I swear, did AS swap the axle/motor weight? Axles are so unstable. Might want to try a different heavier servo.
Don't know if Retooled has small enough servos, but what if the arms would actually be rotateable?

Signups are over already? Thought it was until the end of the month, oh well, one bot less to build, not that my wide load was ever working that great:
Razors caused too much issues with stacking so I had to switch over to Irons, added trapper plows:

Would've removed the second piston as it caused havoks, add a anti hammer rack(the pistons are the longest ones to keep bots at bay) as well as angle the spikes downwards to hopefully rip off the Emergency Wedges(again, Razors would've worked better except against spinners), however didn't get to it and thought it was end of the month.

since they have a faster initial speed than DDTs (iirc) at the cost of force, which popups don't really need.
they don't, they have 10 less maxspeed.
DDTs also are the only one with initial speed(think it's 10)

Looks nice, exposed motors worry me a bit but that's the only thing, so it's basically working like a drumbot would?

Modifications / Re: IRL Components - Pack One: Extenders
« on: September 24, 2016, 09:25:53 AM »
Already mentioned it in that little PM conversation that we had, but a feature I had planned for my mod. Heck if this continues I might as well never make that thing because everything already exists for DSL.
I'm sorry if you think this way, I don't think this is intruding on anything you have planned, and I don't think these mods are competing either. The idea for these packs is to purely add visual variety and choice to people who make IRL bots, and to allow them to be tournament-friendly as well. What you are trying to is a lot more interesting in scope.
Nah, it's not intruding and I'm not seeing this as negative(quite the opposite actually, it's nice that people finally have this choice and thanks for making this), just meant that if planned things(that new building style, smarter AI and all that) start to appear more and more, I'm sure that people will question why my mod should even be played if everything is already available.

There's zero reason for me to be negative or against this, it's not a "unique idea" that was "stolen" from me, heck you even got the idea before I started talking about the mod.
Hoping that this will be a new tournament standard.

Hey, nice to have you here, would love to see those bots.

114
Didn't have time to say it before, but here you're supposed to have one thread for the Tournament, however I do think it's possible to change the title.
Already said everything on youtube, but the matches were great and I loved that you did the match intros, fight analysis and all those extras into it. It might not be as high quality as it could be, but I can still see that you put effort into it.

Discussion / Re: What's the difference between these two versions of DSL?
« on: September 24, 2016, 04:43:50 AM »
dsl 2.1 is the older version while dsl 2.2 is the newest.
Yep, 2.2 is the update which changed some stuff, sadly unbalanced as well, but hey one could simply host a tournament and "ban" those weapons or do a balance patch, however noone seems to have thought of that.

Discussion / Re: Personal Idea: MegaHeavyweight Class
« on: September 23, 2016, 06:32:10 PM »
A category like that already exists inofficially, was discussed in the official weight class thread. Back then the argument was that if you're going over SHW you might as well put the effort to use up to 5000kg, but I would find a 2500kg group good as well.

Those are looking nice now, also crash when importing the texture? Make sure you exported it as 24 bit bitmap.

Sorry for the double post but I just would like to update people on the process.

Because four teams have also sent AI lines, the process should be made much faster so thank you to the teams who did that.

As you can see, I have personally AI'ed a team myself and after a few tries, I got it to work. As a note, if you have named the smartzones yourself, make sure you do it correctly.
I might be one of the people that messed the smartzone part up, originally wanted to AI it but didn't have enough time and wanted to get the bot done, sorry about that.

As for the three remaining teams, they will be done tomorrow. Filming may also hopefully start tomorrow.

Sorry for the long wait guys but I promise you that the quality of the filming will be top quality. As a small warning though, due to my disgusting internet speed (5x dial-up average), that videos will be uploaded one per day.
That's alright, still better than Badger's random uploads or posting one huge video with all the fights :P

Sure, give people the ability to mass flag videos and only give them access to beta test new stuff, just like all backers on a kickstarter project are valid beta testers.
