there's something like that in Robot Wars: Arenas of Destruction. it's called a hydraulic piercing arm. its quite interesting.

I tried the Razer piercing arm weapon on a tminus snap motor and it doesn't take long to beat someone. I just don't have any way to stop them from crawling underneath me yet. I also found out you can't take off armor once you put it on. lol.

Clamps doesn't work well in RA2. Especially servos.

The only solution I know and used to make a clamp is the inverted side hammer...

That is, build a side hammer with a lot of power into it's weapons (like Street Sweeper), but invert the movement start and movement end positions. That is, the bursts' movement will start at the front of your bot and end at the sides of your bot.

When a bot charges you, fire the hammers. The two "pincers" will open, the enemy bot will go right between then, and the two pincers will retract and clamp the other bot.

EDIT: NO PIGLETS FOR DRIVE!

Also, just use 2WD with the most powerful motors and gripper wheels you can use with your weight rather than 4WD with weaker motors. DSL 4WD is like stock, it's best to use it when you REALLY want speed on heavyweights.

A MW can be lightning fast with NPC fast drive and techno destructo wheels, and an E-tek drive with techno destructo wheels makes for a really fast drive for a HW too.

Yeah, but my goal is to make the pincers clamp vertically rather than start in front and end at side or whatever. I might try and copy razer's weapon design. It has a tminus snap motor to use the top piercing weapon and just leave the bottom part alone and have it just stay in one place the whole time. Just have to see what happens.

I haven't done it myself, but here's how I'd make Disector's claws

Use 3 of the Beetlebros' Chicken motors (The serov-typs, of course), and attatch an extender to each one using a side connection point.  To each one of those, attatch a Sir Killalot claw.

I used the dsl large servo. One at the top and two at the bottom. Its very beta, so right now, i just put an extender on each one. I added drive motors and made hammers too. I was gonna add maybe spikes or something to the jaws but I'm running out of room! lol. Even if i get it done mechanically, its not going to have very good armor. For the hammers and the two front drive motors i used the piglet motor. its so small but i don't have the wnough weight to spare. This is very tricky.

i say just use a bunch of burst cylanders with spikes. 3-7 hits and the other bot's a goner.

I'm trying to recreate Diesector from battlebots since he wasn't made in RA2 dsl I guess. Trying to make a set of jaws to squeeze the opponenet rather than flip is difficult.

1. Does anyone play online?

2. What component would I use to create a set of jaws made for clamping? I have the dsl package with all the good stuff.

Are you talking about this Diesector?

so is there anyway to make a clamp? or would i probably have to make everything more like a flipper? I'm not sure what components I use for the jaws either. tis a very difficult concept lol. any suggestions?

What purple blade thing?

My bad, it was red. It was the named shredder i think. It had a disk that spun horizontal at an angle. Anything from the first version is obselete. Alot of the new robots use the see through...glass...pieces of something. It just slides under everything and for those of us who use a wedge idea, it doesn't help us. But I'm working on it. I'm trying to add onto my design rather than scratch it and come up with something else but its becoming a challenge. No matter what, the hard question to answer is...what do I do when I flip over.

YES!!!!!!!! Its not with the downloaded stuff so I thought I would try and make it myself. The hammers and everything would be simple, I just don't know how one would construct the jaws.

Do you have the downloaded ver?
If not, got here: https://gametechmods.com/?do=DSL_DL_Install_Tut_Download Follow the instructions EXACTLY. It isn't as complex as it looks. It's the full version.

Thanks. It worked. I just got owned big time but some purple blade thing. Its so much advanced. You wouldn't happen to know how to make Diesector would you?

make sure you put the weapons and motors into the components folder, which means that you have the parts and that all of the special parts are in.

I did this, there is only a few empty spaces when you play the game and go to the weapons and stuff. If you click on the empty space, it crashes the game. Grrrr.

Do the pack come with anything else other than the bots?

A few weapons and motors and things but most appear to be robots.

You can download it here. just go to the downloads section on the main screen.

I did. Thats where I downloaded the battlebots stuff im trying to add in. I got down how to put the robots into the game. The only thing is that they crash the game. I was told its cause they use weapons that aren't in the game and are custom. I can't figure why the components aren't in the game when I add them. I extract with winrar. Then put the extracted folder into the game-doesn't work. I tried putting the extracted components folder into the components folder in the game-doesn't work. I tried taking out the components folder in the game and replacing it with the extracted components folder-again, doesn' work. What am I doing wrong?

Well first thing your doing wrong is even downloading the BB ai pack. Most replicas arent that amazing and the ones that are good are in DSL. Download dsl 2.0 for CD or DL game depending on what you have. Open it in Winrar and ectract the entire thing to the destop. Then go into the folder that was extracted to the destop and highlight everyhing and right click and click cut. Then go into your RA2 folder. In the RA2 folder click paste. Click yes to all and let it overwrite what it needs to. Then start up the game and it should work.

So basically the things to download in on the site here for the battlebots stuffisn't all that great? Where do I go to download dsl 2.0. I dont know how to tell if i need it for cd or dl. Unless the fact that i have ra2 on a cd is any help. lol.

I am not sure because I never actually downloaded the pack. I just know how to use WinRar. I know other people know this though.
Is there any news on anything about the AU Battlebots getting into DSL anytime soon?

I thought the dsl was what i downloaded when downloading the battlebots packs. I started another thread in the technical support about this but the people that answered didn't help and said i was babbling and stuff and seemed to rather complain that im going to heck for posting a question on a forum rather than help answer it for me. Doesn't dsl stand for the guys who made it?

To extract the Rar or Zip file. Right click it, and when the little menu pops up, click "Extract Here"

I have gotten that far. Everyone is telling me to just drop the folders into the game but I don't think thats how you do it. I'm pretty sure everything has to be put in a certain place. For example, a robot from the battlebots folder, must be put in the robot designs folder in the ra2 file right? I have managed to use the winrar to change the battlebots robots files into a bot file. I also found out that if the bots use custom weapons, the game will crash, which is whats been happening. The components file in ra2 is where I should put the custom weapons and accessories right? If thats the case, each custom weapon seems to be a folder. I think they all have a gmf file or something. Some have pictures of the weapon or whatever item. Some have other contents in them. There is a weapon folder entitled, "hazardblade". It has the same gmf file as the ra2 folder has in the components file but when I put it in the components file in ra2, it isn't there in the game. There is a space in the weapons selection during the game but no picture and no description and clicking on it makes the computer come out of the game. Now what?

Does the bot use custom components? If it does, it will just crash the game.

Actually I believe the robots do use custom components. I downloaded all the battlebot stuff. What file do I change the components to in order to make them work. The same thing happens with them too. I put the extracted files into components file in ra2 and I see empty spaces while playing the game with the weapons and other things but clicking on them crashes the game. Whats my next step?

Do you to already have WinRar.

I have winrar. I know you can extract the files with it. I found you can right click on a robot from battlebots (after its extracted)and then click "add to archive". Under the archive name I can change the file name. Cause I think I have to change it from a rar file to a bot file cause I put eachrobot in the robot designs in ra2 file. Then upload them after starting the game. But when I go to click on the name of the bot in the game when trying to upload it, the computer comes out of the game and shuts it down. I still think I'm doing something wrong. what am I doing wrong?
