Real Robotics Discussion / Not all motors can spin in both directions?
« on: October 19, 2015, 06:18:27 PM »
Looking up the Perm 132 yielded this image, from the Robot MarketPlace:

The arrow seems to indicate the direction it spins, and seems to demonstrate so. Not all motors can spin in both directions, then? Can one have two Perm/PMGs spinning in opposite directions? Can you reverse its direction during operation?

I've only IRL experience building and driving one (Tamiya) 1/10 RC race car~

Stock Showcases / Zyro_Falcon's Stock Showcase

I'm gonna do Stock, hearing of Starcore V3.
Before I start, I don't seem to see any documented stats on Stock wheel grip. Are they the same as in DSL?

Steel 10; I wonder if that much batteries, with their better electotal-to-weight ratio, would do me any good.
Else, maybe I could stick to one 10-amp cell per spin motor and use up the massive amounts of free weight for more dangerous weapon systems and/or more explosive acceleration for both human and AI drivers. I'm keeping within Ironforge's weight limits, too.

Real Robotics Discussion / Know of HS's with 2 blades or more?
« on: October 11, 2015, 04:01:27 AM »

(Dino Spartan of the Japanese Crush Gear Turbo toyline; not exactly a combat bot, given to illustrate what I'm looking for; the position of the two blades)

Something like that.

Discussion / DSL2's AI RL replicas seem quite fragile in comparison...?
« on: October 10, 2015, 10:14:04 PM »
So I've been on RA2 DSL2 for only a short while now. Fighting exhibition matches using mine vs AI bots like Firestorm, Techno Destructo and Overkill... They're surprising fragile.

I've most definitely had a harder time bringing down the game robots like Cranky Spanky, whose chassis armor seems tougher to cut through.

Is that to say the game robots aren't exactly true to life like the replicas? What's going on? :baffled:

DSL TC Showcases / Zyro_Falcon's DSL Showcase

Aha, you're already discovering some of the quirks of RA2. As regular members stop being allowed to see this section after a few posts, I'd recommend screenshotting your creations internals and creating a DSL Showcase so everyone can give you a hand :)

(But as quick advice for now, unpowered axles add nothing for speed/handling/anything basically, and in DSL 2.1 any spin motor can be fully powered by 1 ant battery (1 per spin motor) so feel free to abuse that and not use the heavier batteries :) )

I haven't had a headache like this since starting out in Robocraft. A combination of that game and a late meeting with the 6-episode Battlebots 2015 led me here, to Robot Arena 2/DSL  So here's my prototype:

Craaig advises that I swap out the PC565s for Ant Batteries, which won't compromise power, and... basically I was looking for an unpowered axle in my 'new player' post because 4 E-Tek Drives were too powerful, yet 4 E-Teks weren't enough. So 2 Drives and one 'rudder' wheel has it swerving comfortably.

As someone who just stepped in here there's probably a lot of flaws I won't be able to catch yet. Could you advise me?
