I need help with something that's been causing me a bit of a headache lately.

I have a wireless keyboard that is not illuminated, and I'm a night owl who can't see the bloody thing while typing in the dark.
So, I pulled a bunch of LEDs out of some random useless electronics I had laying around, and figured out their voltages and what I'd need to do to illuminate this wireless keyboard.

The two LEDs I'm wanting to use are blue, from a PDP AP.2 Wireless PS3 controller.
From testing, I've discovered that one light requires 3V to be adequately lit up for being able to see the keys.
The wireless keyboard uses 2x AAA Batteries to power it, which are 1.5V each. That's 3V total, and powers a single LED. Lovely. But I need two of them. :/

This of course means that I need to have 6V going on an entirely separate circuit because piggy backing off two AAA's with two more else where in the circuit would not only cause changes in voltage in funny places, but might also fry the circuitry of the keyboard itself. And I really don't want to add an extra four AAA batteries into the tiny amount of space in the keyboard.

I mean, yes, the keyboard has enough space for all these batteries, but I would have to make an entire new bay just for these four batteries. And that would just be a pain on the aft.

So... I'd like to try and make a 3V DC to 6V DC converter/doubler/whateverthingamabob that will run off the two AAA batteries that are currently in the keyboard, as I can put up with using rechargeable AAA's.

The only thing about this is... I don't know what parts I need for this and Googling the topic isn't really helping.

FYI: I will be posting this exact same forum post into several different websites in hopes t reach a wider variety of people in different communities.

Reference for specs and things:

- Keyboard: blackweb wireless keyboard BWK950
- Keyboard power: 2x 1.5V AAA Batteries (3V total)

- LEDs: 2x 3V Blue LEDs

Discussion / DSL 3 Request - Axel Mount
« on: August 11, 2015, 06:51:57 PM »
So I was playing RA2 DSL2.1 one day and I needed to use an Axel Mount. Then I found out that those don't exist in DSL2.1, even with the Cheatbot2 menu. So yeah... For DSL 3, could you guys add the Axel Mount back into the game, please? Preferable open access (without the need to use the cheatbot2 thing)

Discussion / Nightmare

Is anyone working on a replica of the 2015 Nightmare yet? I know it's pretty soon after the 2015 BattleBots and there probably hasn't been much yet, but I'm just wondering.

And unrelated because I don't want to spam forums posts all over the place...
Is there a way I can change my user name on this website?

DSL TC Showcases / Absolarix's DSL Showcase
« on: May 25, 2014, 08:11:31 PM »
So, I'm still learning about how to really win in this game, but I'm having fun with it! Somewhere on here I read that I should make a bot showcase to get other's opinions on my 'Bots to get better at making them, so here I be. I mainly run the DSL2.1 mod, so this is where my first showcase will be.

The first of two robots I will show off is the Zaron V. It's the fifth revision of my base idea and the only one I've thought good enough to make an AI of.

Zaron V
4x MagSnapper
2x NPC-T64

This one is my attempt to remake Last Rites, though I question myself if I'm doing it right. Mainly, I'm talking about the batteries. I try to put enough batteries in that I have enough Amps to cover all the motor's requirments. For this bot I needed 98.5 Amps when I added all the motor's amperage's up. (66.5 + 16 + 16)
Is the right way to be doing things or did I do a bad?

General Support / DSL2 Arena Problems
« on: May 11, 2014, 04:48:18 PM »
A bunch of the Arenas I see in the "Arenas" folder in my DSL2 mod don't show up in-game. The ".py" ("Python" files I think they're called) files and everything is all in the right place, but the Arenas don't show up. The Arenas I'm referencing all came with the mod when I downloaded it.

"Batman"

"DSLLavaArena"

"DSLObsArena"

"DSLSpaceArena"

"Hamster"

"lt_testarena"

"stuntarena"

Does anyone have a fix to these arenas or a working download for them?

I heard there are remakes of some BattleBots in the Demo version of RA2. Is this true? If so, could someone link me to a working download of the robots from it, or at least remakes of Nightmare and Biohazard(With parts needed for the robots)?

Discussion / Tips for a Newcomer

Anyone have any suggestions for things I should be doing around here to involve myself in the community? I don't have the foggiest of a clue what to do here, though I did want to report a couple problems with some of the downloads on this site(such as one of the 'Bots in the Starcore V3 AI Pack, dunno' which yet).

Someone has already suggested that I share my 'Bot designs with everyone, though I don't think any of them would be very impressive judging by the content I see in the Starcore V3 AI Pack.

The reason I joined this site is because I want to learn how to make my own AI Robots and I also have a couple ideas for Arenas I'd like to make, but first I must learn how to make an arena.

Edit 1 (February 06, 2014, 05:02:01 PM): Forgot to put in that for some reason I can't post in the (Site Information --> New Member Welcome) forum thread(after one single post).  :ermm:
