This is becoming real tiresome hosting this tournament now lol! I've run into another snag. Three of the entrants use a custom AI File. I have the standard pack if you like containing popup, flipper2 etc. But the AI lines im using crash the game, well at least I assume that they are the cause of the crashes. Here are the facts: - All three bots load fine into the bot lab and I can drive all 3 without any issues. - All three bots can be selected in the team preview as AI opponents - All three bots can load into the map. - The countdown starts. 3. 2. 1. Crash. With the following error message: Here is my AI folder with all corresponding files: Here are the lines of AI code that don't seem to work. list.append(("You Wish I Was A Girl!","Flipper2",{'nose':math.pi,'UseSrimech':1,'invertible':False,'range':50,'radius':1,'topspeed':100,'throttle':100,'turn':100,'turnspeed':4,'UseSrimech':0,'EnemyMoveRadius':1,'EnemyMoveTime':3,'PrioritizeFlipper':0,'NoChassisTime':3,'SrimechInterval':1,'weapons':(0,)}))list.append(("Big Hammer","Popup",{'nose':math.pi*2,'invertible':False,'radius':1,'topspeed':130,'throttle':120,'turn':65,'turnspeed':1.1,'NoChassisTime':2,'RunUpsideDown':0,'weapons':(0,)})) It should be noted that I can reference Omni and EternalSnowy fine. But popup and Flipper2 don't work. Could it be the smart zones? I am honestly clueless now. I was told by Redace that yugitom had a similar problem a few months ago if anyone had helped him resolve that?

Hey guys, i'm hosting a tournament and a couple of the designs have the flamethrower component and I cant seem to get these bots to load.
I have the latest 1.4 Robot Arena Version from the download section and I have the following add-ons installed:
- Ring Arena - Action Cam - Mad smart zones
Is there an additional component I have to install to get these parts to work? I was under the impression the flamethrower should just work with the 1.4 version?
Cheers,

Hi5er presents: The Sui Generis Wars Forward: Hello everyone, I am a longstanding GTM member. I have been here on and off since 2010 and after a long hiatus I have spent the last few months being as active as possible throughout the forums having really rekindled my love for this game and robot combat in general. I recently read an article by Mr. AS regarding his views on the state of GTM and the fact that forum activity as a whole seems to be “reclining”. https://gametechmods.com/forums/index.php?topic=19235.msg707371#msg707371I think part of that reason is the way the game has evolved in that we all know which designs work better than others. In stock for example, we often see a slew of pop-ups and horizontal spinners enter (and win) tournaments because they are the most efficient designs. I think the community would be more driven if we all experimented a little more, hence the creation of this tournament. “Sui Generis” is Latin for “Unique” or literally translated “of its own kind” which I hope will engage people to experiment a little bit with Stock and create some truly different and one of a kind battles. Rules: SUBMISSION DEADLINE: 1st SEPTEMBER 2016
Stock HW 1.4 Pop-ups BANNED. Sit n Spinners BANNED. Crawlers BANNED. Horizontal Spinners LIMITED*. AI Components ALLOWED. Rule of 7 Break ALLOWED. BFE, Hax Mode, AAM, Component Freedom BANNED. Cheatbot2 Components BANNED. - Except for: Flamethrower, . Robots must show controlled movement through 2 or more powered wheels.
Your bot may be updated as many times as you wish before the cutoff date, but when I return from holiday I will take note of your most recent design sent through and take that as your entry. After the 1st September, no further entries or updates will be accepted.
Ring Arena 3 minute matches Please take the time to AI your own entries. You have 2 weeks, I will put an omni on your design if you can’t AI, but I take no responsibility for poor performance.
Format: This will be a table based points tournament like so: | X | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | | 1 | X | 0 | 0 | 0 | | 2 | 0 | X | 0 | 0 | | 3 | 0 | 0 | X | 0 | | 4 | 0 | 0 | 0 | X |
An X denotes, no game, a 0 denotes a match.
Matches will be 2 rounds and a bot is awarded points as follows: Total Destruction/Counted out/OOTA: 3 points Points/Timeout: 2 points Loss: 0 points
That’s a total of 6 points, per match available for each game.
The bot with the highest points at the end of all 6 games is crowned the victor. In the event of a tie, a final BO3 match will be played between the 2 top bots to decide the winner. My entry: I am away from the 21st – 31st August on holiday, so recording will take place after that. As such, the cut off for entries will be 1st September 2016 so that everyone has a good 2 weeks to get their designs finalised. Depending on the interest I would initially be limiting this to 8 entries (1 bot per person, including my own), but may extend this if interest picks up. Entrants: 1. Hi5er 2. Badger 3. Silverfish 4. Redace 5. R01 6. Geice 7. Fracture 8. 090901Black: Received Green: received, AI'd and accepted. Red: Issue Waiting List: 1. 2. 3. 4. Have I missed anything? *HS Rules: You may have no more than 2 powered HSs on your robot. In addition, you may not attach more than 2 weapons per attachment point if using a single HS and no more than 1 weapon per attachment point if using a double HS setup. For example, a Tribar has 3 attachment points, so you can EITHER: Have 2 Tribars mounted on a separate motor, each with a single weapon on each attachment point, OR, have a single Tribar mounted on one motor with a MAXIMUM of 2 weapons stacked per attachment point (A total of 6 weapons in either case).
A Disc extender would work in the same fashion, except due to the inside attachment points I am simplifying the rule to a MAXIMUM of 8 weapons per HS mounted disc with a maximum limit of 2 HS mounted discs per robot.
I reserve the right to reject any robot who tries to be clever and get around this rule, or I feel is simply not embracing the spirit of this tournament, however, I must stress that VS, Drums, HS/VS Hybrids, Gut rippers, jugglers etc, are absolutely fine to submit, providing they comply with the above.

So just a quickie... Do we think this has gone belly up?
Last I heard we were to expect fortnightly updates, rather than weekly, but with nothing posted on Steam since June 20th... I'm doubtful...
I was on the edge of investing, but when they made the decision to bring it out of early access just for the Steam Sale, I was shocked to see such a blatant cash grab with no regard for the users, very poor move in my opinion... There is always going to be more Steam Sales in which they could have aligned the release date to.
I'm now glad I never actually bought and tried this out as i'm starting to believe nothing further will develop.
Is the dream over?

Hi guys, I thought I would create a showcase page so I can show off some of my "comeback" creations if you will. From my welcome page you will know that I haven't picked up the theoretical screwdriver since 2010... So let's see what the ol mouse clickers can muster up... Project #1 (Utilizing a "Drum" Style Weapon) CompleteFor my first project as this was a new start for me I wanted to build a robot focusing on a weapon I hadn't used before. I opted for a "drum" style spinner. The appeal was the sheer amount of weapons I could cram in and I like focusing on 'lesser used' ideas to see if I can create something a tad more unique. I came up with two "semi-final" variations before settling on a final design thanks to the influence of the renowned 'Neglected Waterbug', which helped keep the added benefit of stacking the Drum on a servo for the extra rpm while keeping the stability under control. Firstly, "Drumbledore" - a very quick draft/prototype for testing stability etcThe much less refined version of the second bot featured below. Drumbledore was my first design (still very much a prototype) involving the drum weapon fixed to a Snapper II motor for increased speed at the cost of less razors. The result is mixed. When it works, the damage this thing generates is unbelievable. The problem is the bloody thing bounces around like a bucking broncho and flips itself over half the time. It's also not invertible and doesn't have a srimech, so this is a big issue. Secondly, "Conundrum" - Semi Final DesignFinally, "Conundrum v2.0" - Final DesignFeatures: - 2 Servo mounted HP ZTeks to house the drum. - Drum features 16x Razors and 8 Maces for damage. - Decently wedged with frontal ram plate armour as well as, maces, side mounted razors and a side ways blade to help protect the drum motors. - 2 HP ZTeks mounted on a SnapperII for drive. - Plough for holding bots in place. - Powered by 1x Supervolt, enough for a 3 minute match (barely). Noticeable drawbacks: - Not invertible - vulnerable from the side and the bottom - hit and miss against HS type bots - Not very fast I decided to go back to the drawing board with Conundrum. The damage potential was a bit too small by today's standards and I wanted to see if I could fix the stability issues I was having with Drumbledore so the drum could be mounted on a servo or snapper. Gaining inspiration from Neglected Waterbug, I was able to come up with this... Conundrum v2.0 He has the added benefit over his first iteration, by actually managing to get a KO on some of the Starcraft v4.0 bots haha! It's nice to get some wins I have to say... At least now I know i'm not completely useless! Now also featuring, "Conundrum v6" - Tricycle Takedown entryFeatures: - 3x HP ZTek Drive (The gimmick of the tournie was to use robots with an odd number of wheels) - 2x Stacked Supervolts for the power - 8x Maces and 16x Razors mounted to two HP Ztek Motors for the Weaponry. Noticeable drawbacks: - Not invertible - Vulnerable to side (and rear) attacks This was a redesigned version of conundrum for Thrackerzod's Tricycle Takedown tournament. Entrants had to build a bot utilising an odd number of powered wheels. Conundrum actually went on to win the tournament coming up through the losers bracket after being defeated in the Semi-Finals by Redace. The trapping plow on top proved to be incredibly effective, as did the wedges. The drum was also fantastic at breaking down other bot's wedges and eventually allowing Conundrum to roll right on underneath and gut rip to victory. (With Plow removed to help show innards more clearly) Failed Project Archive Ongoing"Spank Tank v2" - Unused Tricycle Takedown entryFeatures: 5x HP ZTek Drive (Consequently, this bot would have been the only entrant to not use 3 wheels... Pity!) Top and Side armour 24x Iron Spikes and 4x Single Ice Pick's as ramming weapons 2x Stacked Supervolts for the power Invertible The thought process was: I assumed everyone would make a 3 wheel bot, hence if I made a bot with 5 wheels it would have the best drive in the tournament... That uses a lot of weight however. The most efficient weapon system in the game is a ram setup, so I thought, , why not. The main problem with this guy is he span around in circles a lot. The opening charge when the match started was insanely strong but after that it can't seem to drive in a straight line very often. Very fun though and I really like the design, not sure why, think the side armour plates just appeal to me and it all seems to fold together nicely, when I rotated the snappers to adjust something in the centre it felt like I was taking it apart or "removing the hood" or something, whatever. Any comments on the above would be greatly appreciated, I will certainly be looking to refine these designs further where I can. Cheers, ~Hi5

Hi everyone. I doubt any of you will know me or even remember me (Gig, Somebody, Sage?) as I have contributed very little to this forum, even when I was active (way back in 2010). But a few weeks ago I stumbled across the steam game: Robot Arena 3 and I was like man... what a game RA2 was... The fun I had. And boom this weekend I decided to download it on my Surface and have some fun times mucking around on one of my old favourites... Here's what I came up with today: Spyke He's a spinner. I just remembered a few glitches as I went really. Not sure if he would be any good in today's game? Anyway, advice on the above is welcome, but it was a bit of a rush jobby. I didn't even bother with a custom skin! Whats new in the world of RA2, who's about still?

Right so thanks to somebody heres my DSL showcase lol My first ever DSL robot is named the exorcist, named for his giant cross shaped flipper thats great at expelling evil out of the arena. Lame? Yeah lame, thought so, but the name stays. Features: - 2x Razors, great for running people around the arena if it gets under them - An over powered flipper, great as its a middleweight - 2 wheel drive, faster than expected - Can self right Problems: - Concerned about the wedge, I'd appreciate some tips on some wedge building - Exposed tyres, sides and back - limited weaponry - Weak armour (1 mm Titanium) Heres some screenies: Outside the exorcist robot Inside the robot exorcist, with the flipper lifted up. All comments appreciated :)

So basically I have 2 versions of RA2,
the first is my 'clean' version with nothing out of the ordinary
the second is starcore AI pack 1 and I was hoping to transfer one of my robots across from the first clean version
So I exported it in my robot garage but I cant seem to find his file anywhere and therefore cannot import it, where is the file exported to and how can I access it so I can copy and paste it over?
Cheers.

I just downloaded the AI components pack from the downloads section that includes components like the ninja star and emergency's flipper, but also a 'snapper II burst motor' and I was just wondering how effective it was compared to the original snapper burst motor and the DDT motor?

So I decided to create a showcase for my stock robots as suggested and I thought I'd start up with 'Teeth', a rammer robot that I built to take on my brothers 3x FS (Face spinner is that right here? The one where a Z Tek is in the position where it would normally be used as a drive motor but a disc is placed on instead of a tyre? Sorry am new ) Anyway this bot won only losing one iron spike. It was also the first robot which I experimented with the custom texture thing and I think it turned out nicely, anyway I know your not going to approve of the allignment of all the inards as it isnt pixel perfect, but it works and I think its ok for a first, it has never been used competitively either so whatever, below are inside and outside shots. Features: - 9x Iron Spikes mounted on the front for main attacking purposes - Invertible, so being flipped is not a problem - 4x Spike strips mounted along side the tyres to offer some protection to the exposed tyres - 4x HP Ztek motors that offer a strong enough ram power but it could easily be stronger Problems: - Limited weaponry - Vulnerable back and top - If a flipper balances him on his side there is nothing he can do about it (although this has never happened and the iron spike pointing at angle would make this incredibly challenge to balance it) - Lots of unused space inside - Probably more but they're all I can come up with Anyway here are the snapshots: Inside the robot teeth, note the un-alligned Zteks and base anchors :D An outside shot of the robot teeth, note the custom texture on the top, im happy with him overall :) Comments appreciated and please dont be too harsh... Cheers.

Hey everyone here on gametechmods,
I couldnt find a general 'welcome to the forums' kind of page so I thought I would announce myself in the news section, if you count gaining a new member useful news then awesome, but if not, whatever, burn me if you must.
Basically I used to play robot arena a while back when I was 12ish and have been playing on and off and assumed it was a fairly inactive game and it was just a laugh for me and my brother to go head to head with our various creations; but I stumbled across this forum, got the latest patch and downloaded the starcore and DSL packages yesterday although they randomly stopped working today, un-sure why...
Anyhow I think this is gna be a nice place for me an my brother to pick up some tips from the pros, also im a complete terminology virgin here so if somebody could lay down some of the commonly used phrases thats used that'd be awesome :)
Cya around.
