Chatterbox / I'm back!
« on: September 15, 2010, 07:09:25 PM »
Hello everyone!  After a long vacation from GTM, I am back!  I'm hoping to get back on track with the times on this site as a few things have changed since I've gone.  I'm hoping to get back on the forum more often now, however schoolwork keeps getting in the way.  In any case, I'm just really happy to be back!

Tournament Archives / Tactical Technical Machines tourney idea
« on: February 12, 2010, 03:39:34 PM »
Conference 1: Division I: (1, 2, 3, 4), Division II: (5, 6, 7, 8)
Conference 2: Division III: (9, 10, 11, 12), Division IV: (13, 14, 15, 16)
Here is a proposal for a tournament that I may start in the next few months or so.  The tournament format includes a two-conference four-division setup.  This may seem a little out of the ordinary, but I will explain the details.

As I said above there are four divisions in two conferences.  This means two divisions per conference.  Entrants compete in 5 total regular season matches that include round-robin style matches against entrants in the respective entrant’s division (3 matches), matches against one entrant from each of the other divisions in the respective entrant’s conference (1 match; I’ll use a pattern that’s easy to understand; see below), and a match against a team from the other conference (1 match; figured out using a standard 16-team bracket)

No BFE or AAM
No cheatbot2 or custom components

Here the first bot I made in LDD.

Hazard

I'm still trying to build Maniac Manta, but it proves difficult because I don't know what to use for the skirts on my bot.

Here we go...

Aluminum 1mm armor (prbly should up this a little)
1 20x120 DSL bar
2 DSL 4 Hammers
3 Battlepacks

It's okay, I guess.  Little tough to drive, probably because it's a bit unbalanced.

More soon

Stock Showcases / Hypnodisc7's Stock Showcase

I really want to learn how to make good bots, so I'm starting a showcase of some bots that I've built.

Here's the first one.

DSA armor (and a nice aluminum foil paint job :P)
4 angle motors
3 HPZs
2 tribars
1 big volt battery
6 maces
4 ramplates
1 T connector
4 square extenders
4 shinys
4 plows
9 base plate anchors

The HPZ in the center is connected to the other two HPZs by a T connector and square extenders.

Existing Games / Robot Wars: Extreme Destruction

Post anything interesting about the game here.  :-D

Btw, does anyone know where I could buy it?  I think it was only released in the UK, but I'm not sure, 'cause I live in the US.  Or is there a good torrent download somewhere?

Robots Showcase / Maniac Manta

This is my robot, Maniac Manta!  It is a lightweight (59.5 lbs.) flipper bot.  It competed in Battlebots, but didn't get past the qualifying rounds.  It can lift 3 times its own weight!

I'll upload a video of me testing it soon.
