im thinking of starting an another tourney. BFEBOTS Weight Classwill be stock lw and u can BFE, AAM and Zero G the robots! PrizesPrize will be many things, from.. - A trophy bot( chassis shaped exactly like a trophy) or
- To get to be the first person to beta test of rdma2(may be a while)
I will think of more prizes soon. FormatAI Tournament Note: since im not that good at AI'ing, please send bindings, plus the .py file if u use one that does not come w/ stock, if possible. Extra InformationThere will be prizes for coolest looking bot, most effort put in to bfe bot, and others Other StuffI did want this to be an online tourney, but it will be hard to do schedules and whatnot. and it would be better in the middle of summer or on xmas vacation. so this tournament will not be an online one but future ones may This is an idea, so its not final.

im trying to skin a bot. i exported the paint template, edited it w/ gimp and saved it as a 24bit bitmap. when i import it onto the bot it shows up as black and white. i have tried a 256 color bitmap also but that crashed ra2.
what is the correct file format to save the texture in? edit: oh and i also looked at the bitmap in multiple programs... and it is in color the way i want it to be.

this may be in the wrong section, but i couldn't find any that would suit it. a long way back i had the idea for making ra2 into a portable thing. Since we dont have the source code we cant port it to any handheld game counsels or ipod/ pdas. so i get this really tiny sbc for my teleprecence robot. and i think"if only i had a screen on it and a micro keyboard thing, i could make it into a hand-held game counsel" and thats where this idea came from... i have already shelled out the 300 dollars for this thing and am using it for my teleprecence robot. eventually i will make it into the hand-held thing that will be able to clip onto my robot to control it, and unclip when i want to use it a hand-held console. right now it is booted with damn small linux and is working quite well. if i put, say windows embeded xp, i willbe able to run ra2 on it. win xp is only 1.4 gb(dsl or damn small linux is 50 mb:)) so it will fit onto a 2gb usb drive or memory card, but since i need ra2, ra2dsl, directx and a couple other games on it, im thinking more along the lines of 4 or 8 gb. there will be wifi on it and maybe 3g. It would be better and easier if we could port ra2 to linux or ipod/iphone, but this works for now. i will have updates when i get the screen.

i think a mod should be made that is totally different than stock ra2. it should be like a fps or a racing game. something that nobody would ever expect from an ra2 mod.
take quake rally and quake 3 rally. they tuned a fps into a racing game.
i would be happy to help on this mod(design, ideas, arenas/track/whatever place you play in, coding, models.)

i started this thread so people can post ideas for ra3(if it ever gets made). Please include how ra3 would do this(just a description)
my ideas 1. beter chassis design. description: remake the chassis editor so that more complex things can be made. maybe a py script to edit a .bot file.
2. custom components that can be made in game. description: It would basically be a bots chassis. good for making simple things like extenders or batteries. paired with the chassis design idea it would work.
3. crushable/deformable components. description: since the components would really be chassis it would just use the normal deforming thing from normal ra2.
4. chains/belts/gears: description: basically its a motor that connect to the "base" motors shaft. there would be a script that would lock the "base" motor and copy its parameters(speed, power, intake) to the chain motor.
5. totally realistic! description: maybe having all the components be technically chassis would not allow them to pass through each other. not allowing motor movement in the bot lab would also help get rid of glitches.
6. Arena maker description: some type of thing to make custom arenas like a lot of racing games have(trackmania).

is there a program that can find files that say something that the free trail is over. ex. the file in ra2 that says you have already played the demo. I am trying to use 3dsmax 5 but the trail will expire soon and I wont be able to make anymore components.

Most likely i will be running KTOB (kill the other bots) after bbeans5 is done.
Rules = standard no aam, no .bot file editing, no cheatbot 2(but ai and sz is allowed), no nasty pickles, etc.
arena = maybe reskinned combat arena or my custom arena
weight class = stock hw
prizes = custom components
spacial twists = chassis weight has to be less than 50 kg. it can be plastic, dsa or any others. The robots also have to have some way of doing damage (spike, ramplate, etc.)
please comment. I might just take your suggestion

Not to be a health critic or anything but some of us should go outside more often. You still can design robots while you are out there. It is nice to get some exercise and to have a life.(not that most of you have one already)

The only battery I can stack is the pink one. Does anybody have tips on stacking blacks? I have tried doing it for about 15 minutes straight and no avail. I do have one of those ball mouses, though.

I have an idea to get new members or lurkers to post more. when a member gets from ant to beetle or beetle to lightweight they should get something awesome like a custom component. This will influence more spam but it can also minimize it at the same time. If somebody(not Somebody) gets caught spamming or bumping they will get that prize taken away from them. this message is mostly for admins and moderators, but comments from normal members would help a lot for making this idea even better!

I am just making this thread as a temporary bot uploader. in your post include a picture and the link to where the file is. Please use the file uploader. P.S. If any admins (acams, clickbeatle) dont want this. I wont get upset if you delete this thread. But please make another for a substitute.
