I came to the BeetleBros. site after three years away to watch some old videos. I had no idea the community was still so active.
Warms my decrepit heart, it does.
I need to reinstall the game, teach you whippersnappers how we did it in Ye Olden Days...

What is this blasphemy? Reading? On a forum dedicated to games?
Seriously, though, what books are you lot interested in?
Personal favorite: Watchmen. Read it. Now. I MEAN IT.

Yes, folks, I will be attempting to transcend virtual robot fighting and build a real fighting machine: a middleweight shell spinner named Flogging Maulie. I'm currently trying to get a team together in my school.
I talked to General Morgan, and he said he had some spare motors (including, I think, an E-tek), so I've got a weapon motor down.
Question for the real builders: What's the best way to keep a spinner from obliterating itself on a hit?

Brownie points to whoever gets the reference. Aaaaaaaanyway... I got an idea after remembering something Christian Carlberg (Minion, Dreadnought, Overkill) said: Drivetrains win championships. I set out to create a fast bot whose speed and armor could make up for its weak weaponry. After several days of tweaking, I finally created a bot who can beat anything it gets under. Named after an RA2 legend, here is... http://img233.imageshack.us/my.php?image=screenshot27am1.pngA better view: http://img252.imageshack.us/my.php?image=screenshot28ej7.pngWicked fast and able to take quite a beating. The weapon's off-center, I know, but I worked so hard to get JUST the right weapon that I don't care.

Unlike Clickbeetle and MikeNCR, not all of us are engineering geniuses. So, what kind of real bot would you build if you had that knowledge?
For me, a middleweight crusher. Razer-esque, of course. It would have sloped sides (to imbalance spinners), a steep wedge, and a huge beak. The beak would be serrated, to possibly chew through wires the main piercing attack didn't directly hit.
So, how about the rest of you guys?

Robots have evolved since Battlebots and Robot Wars came into existence. Some old ones, however, remain the best. I just thought people could make compelling arguments as to which bots (of different types) were (or are) the best.
Best FBS: Ziggo Ziggo embodies the FBS: destroy or die trying. Almost every single match Ziggo has ever fought resulted in a KO against him or onto his obliterated opponent (what usually happened). He was so destructive that being obliterated in combat meant you got "Ziggo'd". While Shrederator, Megabyte and his kin, and others tear up the RFL, none can match the awesome power contained in that little wok.

Is it still happening?
