Rojo and I used to make "flying trash can spinners" which were essentially just trashcan shaped bots with unbalanced counter-rotating HS hammers. They'd spin up and bounce around the entire arena.  We'd throw 4 identical trashcans in an arena, colour them, red, blue, green, yellow, and bet on which one would win.

Gawd it sounds lame, but we would watch the stupid things bounce around, killing each other, for hours...

I see zoss has confirmed an update after the long weekend in the US. Should be out Tuesday hopefully. Hope it's physics fixes the bugs are still playable, but the physics imo are god awful.

THANK YOU SO MUCH, saw your posts on steam forums. Spent like 2 hours on the bot when it exploded and it fixed it.  :claping :claping :claping

Not a problem! Glad I could help!

I'm starting to lose hope now. Looks like Mr Zoss is working multiple projects. He a dev or just PR? ****ing buzz kill pardon my French. Abandoned? Backburner maybe? More communication from the devs would be nice.

General Support / Fixing Your Lost Bots Through the .json
« on: June 24, 2016, 03:11:01 AM »
I'm no expert. Just trying to be helpful.
Remember to backup your files before modifying them.

Fixes currently include
1. I entered my Bot in a tournament, but it was overweight/unrestricted and now it's trapped/locked, or I can no longer access it
2. My Bot blew up on the workbench. When I try to open it up in the botlab all I see is broken UI and I am forced to end task

1. I entered my Bot in a tournament, but it was overweight/unrestricted and now it's trapped/locked, or I can no longer access it

First step is to find your Bot File. File path may vary depending on your version of windows.

Go to Documents>RobotArena3>Profile#>Bots
In the Bots folder there will be a number of folders with random IDs.

These folders contain the Bot files.
Open the image file(.jpg) in each folder to find the folder that corresponds to the Bot that you have lost.
When you have found the correct folder then go ahead and open the bot.json file using Notepad

You should see something similar to this:

Delete the number in the parentheses on the line "TournamentUUID" : "699379cf-6251-4a86-9ffa-9248be1a0d02",

Should look like this when you are finished:
   "TournamentUUID" : "",

  Save bot.json

You should now be able to access and edit your Bot in the Bot Lab

You can take this one step further and go in to profiles.json and remove all information corresponding to the tournament to free that specific tournament up so that another bot may enter.
  profiles.json is located at Documents\RobotArena3
Search for the TournamentUUID located in your bot.json using Find(ctrl+f). In this case it was the 699379cf-6251-4a86-9ffa-248be1a0d02 in "TournamentUUID" : "699379cf-6251-4a86-9ffa-9248be1a0d02",

You may also delete all Tournament information for a specific profile in profiles.json. This will open up all tournaments for your team.
I suggest creating a new team, and comparing the team with no tournament information to a team with tournaments completed.

2. My Bot blew up on the workbench. When I try to open it up in the botlab all I see is broken UI and I am forced to end task

Scroll to the very bottom of the bot file.
You should see something similar to this:

Delete the nulled component at the bottom starting from the comma(,) to the brace(}). Save.

You should now be able to access and edit your Bot in the Bot Lab.

I was enjoying it up until last night when my art bot blew up on the workbench. Now I'm afraid to pick it up again to even attempt building anything that involves more than half an hour.

Can't wait! Hoping for no rule of seven and some nice physics.

ooh so you guys were the dudes that made those cool ass dsl tanks. are you and rojo related or something?

We're best buds for life! We might as well be brothers I guess.

MadBeaver you're maverick and a loose cannon and you and I need to team up to conquer the world.

Hahaha you'll have to peel me away from my new toy. Be great for conquering a zombie world, though.

Alot of concepts, and experimentation with game physics.

Here's some earlier stuff I made before experimenting with making custom components.

Rojo's Brick eater/sh**ter inspired this one. It ate entire robots, and pooped them out.

Ya nevermind. I found it on Photobucket.

I'll make a new thread in the custom components section for all the images I've dug up just now.

Post the brick sh**ter

I've looked for that brick sh**ter for a while, and can't find it anywhere. Rojo might make a new one now that the mega adapter's back in the component list.

Madiaba had a copy of the brick sh**ter. It was on the old bot exchange for a time. If I could find that damn disc he mailed me it'd be resurrected.

I always loved this game a lot, but I never looked at this game as a robot building game. I always saw it as a creative platform far beyond robot battling.

Thanks for the welcome back folks!

Any of you play Little Big Planet. or Space Engineers?

Firebeetle's Component Pack. On the listing it calls it the Mega Adapter. Brings me back.

That was the most useful component ever made for this game. How did my crappy Tank Pack survive, but that awesomeness didn't?

Ah darn! Do you guys know where I can get the component that allowed me to attach things as though they were attached to the base of the robot? It was like a little green dot, and I could scroll the component up and down where it attach in mid-air above the green dot.

I believe it was called the universal anchor?

Haha ya I figured as much. I can't get the game to run now? I dunno what's changed. I hope I still have the disc Madiaba mailed me years ago. He still around?
