ops  :embarr :baby_smily:

Included in Roboforge 1.34-02 is included a bot:

z_alpha_decimator.bot

It is a powerful "Vertical spinner"

I can't figure out how to play this game.  It just freeze when I test battle.  Also no idea of what any of the parts do either, they all look the same.

So how do I make a VS in this game?

Did You download latest version (v 1.34-02) from

http://www.roboforge.altervista.org - look for DOWNLOAD section.

Do not use version 1.34 as it crash.

About parts:

The components to be connected together are (the order list is not relevant):
0. chassis
1. controller
2. engine
3. sensor
4. mobile joints
5. shields
6. weapons
7. generic components

- Controller  MUST be included in layout otherwise the bot explode as soon as You run a test/battle
- if Engine is missing, the bot will not move.
- if sensor is missing You can't detect the enemy
- you can imagine what happens without mobile joint, shields and weapons

About generic componts. They are useful to create your own layout. They are different in shape, connection points, cost, health.

So You can choose the best component according to yr needings.

I like to choose cheapest components, to maximize number of weapons but it's just an approach.

Edit:

About "vs"

You can challenge someone in Challenge room for an Online battle. I suggest to post a message in forum about this because there's not much player.

I've still some problem...

I can create a room and most (all?) players can see it and come in (BTW thanks again for fun and patience Oscar-Xps)

But:
1. I can't see most of room (even the creator declared it exist)
2. I coudn't join the unique room I got up to now (created by Oscar-Xps)

Any idea?

I downloaded and installed Hamachi, connected to some Network (RA United 3, RobotArena2Fight, Robozone), I can see some player Online (BadNick with Green spot )

Then I run Ra2, Selected Multiplayer, LAN  (-->Retrieving Local session...)....  but nothing.. Refresh ..Still nothing

My firewall (Kaspersky) define Hamachi as Trusted zone - allowed any connection

Where did I go wrong?

heemm.. it links to RF documentation, not only to web site
Well, You can start with RoboManual2.pdf.

You just need to download "RF_documentation" from www.roboforge.altervista.org and unzip the file.

BTW: If You already downloaded the game from the web site indicated above and installed it, You can open RoboManual2.pdf through the shortcut:

Start (windows) ->Programs-> Roboforge->User Guide

hhhmmm... effectively I forgot to mention that everything to be downloaded is inside DOWNLOAD section of the web site indicated above.

Anyway: here attached:
1. A super basic concentrated Guideline about RF AIing (I made it in 1/2 hour so pls be patient if it's not so clear)
2. a Stupid bot with the basic AI described in the document (You need to insert into "..\Roboforge\bot" folder)

@Badnik
Hey You reach your fist final, and frankly speaking I was soooo lucky vs your bot. Congrats :claping

@Squirrel_Monkey: Never though You were sarcastic, just too kind.  :mrgreen:
BTW:
1.what do you mean for "DSL Total Conversion Mod"? I downloaded DSL TC 2.0 and 2.1 patch for downloaded Game. Is this?
2. I can see a lot of components pack available. What I can't understand is what happen if two players try to battle online and one of them hasn't installed in his
PC all components used by the opponent. Is the bot file so fully self-descriptive including all definitions of parts used?
3. I can see a lot of nice shapes in your chassis. I can just create box or cylinder. How can I create better shapes?
4. I've seen some bot editor available. Can I use them to edit chassis shape without creating my bot form the beginning everytime?

@Gazea2
It's correct You got a Dos "black" window, it's not correct that it close automatically.
So,  sorry, but You won my list of stupid questions (You already gave me some informations but I just want to be sure there's no misunderstanding):

1. Did You download "roboforge_setup_1-34-02.exe" from "Download" section in www.roboforge.altervista.org? Please note IT'S NOT the official web site.
2. Did You select Multicore CPU check box during installation? (As I suppose you are using a Dual Core or higher). If not uninstall Roboforge through:
  START->Programs --> Roboforge -->Uninstall
and then reinstall "roboforge_setup_1-34-02.exe" selecting correct check box.
3. Are You running the program through the shortcut "START->Programs-> Roboforge ->Roboforge" created by installation? I recommend to don't run the program through double click on "roboforge.exe"
4. Could you post:
- Your operating system (pls specify 32 or 64bit)
- CPU architecture
- a print screen of the black window (I hope it stay eough to catch it)
- output.txt file (it's inside "..\Roboforge" folder)

@ Squirrel_monkey: Hey, thanks for "this is cool" (I know it's a small lie  ;)) and for tips

@Badnik: Thanks for new tips

@Hydro:  well, with a P4 theoretically You just need to double click on roboforge.exe to get a fullscreen run. I do this with my old P4 (even RF fullscreeen mode is a little bit invasive)

Ok, I've made my RA2 Aspo (picture attached) but ...
... I'm a nut .Even I tried to read some tutorial I didn't find replies to my question, so I'm a a nut and I place here (out of topics, sorry) some questions:

1. I put all my efforts to stay in Middleweight but I feel that some bot in Event Schedul are not Middleweight. Where can I see the class of the opponents  in Event Schedul?
2. Now some of You know what AI means for RF. Is possible to do something similar with RA2?
3. How can I battle someone online? Do I really need to install Hamachi or GameSpy is still active?

@System32
So You met Alter and not Aspo ...   and You haven't leg in your bot (it's an hoover chassis)   ...  and Alter wasn't scared by Hyconetos, just controlled the situation
hhhmmm... let's count:
1) Alter and not Aspo
2) no legs
3) no scares

Total 3 lies...  hhmmm.... Prince of Lies.... I can do much better:
1) I had 10000 girlfried
2) I drive a Ferrari
3) I'm a Genius
 :mrgreen:

no seriously...   :claping Congrats because You made your own bot in a short time and it has a wondeful RA2 look.
I'm trying to do the opposite: Creating a RA2 Aspo (not so far from 1st crappy version)

@Somestrangeguy
Congrats! You detected a well known RF bug.  :claping
Anyway if You want to delete a bot:
- Workshop
- click on open bot
- select bot
- click on Delete (confirm Yes)  (.... and up to here there's nothing strange)
- Ignore the message "Could not delete bot" (OK)
- Click on "X" Right (even the hourglass is still "running") --> You will leave Workshop, but the bot will be cancelled

@Badnick
Yeah Tankazoid
 I avoided to write the name because the name is (not kidding): "JustinBeiberWishesHeHadMy...."

@Hydro
You could  but RF guros says that windowed mode looks much more stable (I use fullscreen in my old Pentium4, I can't see any difference).
Anyway if You want to have a try:
- open an empty txt file (let's say Fullmode.txt") inside the Roboforge installation folder
- write the following:  procaff /run 2 roboforge.exe  (as I assume You are using a multicore CPU)
- save the file and rename it as Fullmode.cmd
- double click on cmd file

@Redline
Yes, I "arranged" the new web site and I'm in contact with the old web site admnistrator to replace it with new one (I mailed him yestarday all files)
I also purposed a "fast" redirect to new site, but He said it's not possible. Really don't know why.

@You all.
1. This community is much more "vital" then "sleeping" RF community (and I stop this thing here because I really don't want to be offensive)
2. Now I remind Why I like so much RF: because I'm toooo bad with any kind of controller (keyboard included)

@Redline
Well, it's a doubleface:
- nice side: I'm happy because You probably will fix all your problem after download package 1-34-02  from DOWNLOAD section: http://www.roboforge.altervista.org (I checked right now: seems to work well)
- bad side: how many other people download "old" version 1.34 from "old" web site and quit the game because it crash?

@Badnick: everyone loose vs nednill at least one time. Poor Ned is always greatful..... Don't worry about it :mrgreen:

@system32: hhhmmm ....  Aspo 2035 (winner) met:
1st round: Tankazoid (I didn't touch him at all. It just crash towards a wall)
2nd round: Maniac Surgeon (Badnick). Do You know guy? That bot could even win the tourney. Sometimes it still beat me!!
3rd round : myself (Alter 1289)
4th round: Greenmeanielight (Phantom2000)

So, who are You? perhaps myself :mrgreen:

OK,I'll go back to RA2...

BTW: I'll open a Roboforge Challenge Room this night. If someone want some kick...

Bad Bad guy  :gunz:

BTW that's what I hate in old web site. There's a lot of powerful bot there and most of newbie just download a bot, enter it in next tounrament and then  leave

New installation package and new web site should stop this. All new demo bot are "self-protected" and will explode if entered into a tournament. :evilsmile:

Anyway, good choice  :mrgreen:

Hey BadNick,  You re-created completly (or a significative part) of a stick-bot (body, chassis, mod. AI) !!! Are You really a new bie :eek:?

Anyway congrats  :claping for last 30k tourney and thanks for RA2 tip (yeah, it was ATOM smasher).

@Naryar: thanks for explanation. I'll try to go trough this

@Redline: sorry but I have to place here a list of stupid questions (to be checked in sequence):
1. Did You select Multicore CPU check box during installation? (As I suppose you are using a Dual Core or higher). If not uninstall Roboforge through:
  START->Programs --> Roboforge -->Uninstall
and then reinstall "roboforge_setup_1-34-02.exe" selecting correct check box.
2. Are You running the program through the shortcut created during installation? I recommend to don't run the program through double click on "roboforge.exe"
3. When RF start is it in windows mode or full screen?
4. Could you post:
- Your operating system (pls specify 32 or 64bit)
- CPU architecture
- a print screen
- output.txt file (it's inside "..\Roboforge" folder)
5. RF has been set to run OpenGL dll as default. Could You try to run RF (in some way) and select:
"Options-->DirectX" then "Save and Exit". Close the program and run it again.
If You can't get any benefits from DirectX settings restore OpenGL.

@badnik: I entered two bot  :evilsmile:

@Redline: post me if You need help

@You all: damns! I made my first RA2 bot and kicked out @ 2nd round rookie tournament!!
I modified Smasher and made a crap spinner which spin sooo slooow (red bird spin motor)..

I need a lot of training.... :frown:

BTW:
1) No crash at all up to know with RA2
2) is ther any way to rotate parts after connected?
3) is there any way to save a complete limb (more part in connection) and then recall it.?

hhmmm .. sorry for out of topics

OK, thanks Sparkey98 I noticed and fixed some download problem.

Now www.roboforge.altervista.org  -->download should work fine.

I remark again: please note that probably You are running RF installation over a MultiCore CPU (as Single Core are crap) so during installation select the correct
checkbox.

On my side I successfully downloaded files of RA2... OK I'll start to have a look tomorrow...(time for bed now)

Hi,

I'm from Roboforge.

We received a few visits from RA2 people, that 's nice! :claping

Just to help someone here about Roboforge: take a look to:  www.roboforge.altervista.org

You will find basic explantions, tips, demo video  AND download (the game is for free).

Pls do not install version 1.34 but just 1.34-02 (according to instruction included into DOWNLOAD section).

For any additional question You can contact RF forum.

On my side I would give a look to RA2 (in my next free 5 minute) as some RF people played it. It looks interesting....

It would be nice to have a challenge between RF and RA2 community..
