^ditto^

It has to have the most random lyrics of any song ever. They've even got Gensis beat on that.
Actually, Alien by Strapping Young Lad has a bunch of songs with weird lyrics, although it definitely isn't your sort of music.

'Not my sort of music', eh? Try me.

And that wouldn't be my kind of music because...? I can deal with metal. And anyway, those lyrics have an actual train of thought. Try, for example, Genesis - I know what I like (In your wardrobe). Or, as we were saying, The Avalanches - Frontier Psychiatrist. Way wierder lyrics.

I couldn't hear a single word in that song. It was bad.

I should probably listen to Strapping Young Lad at some point. I enjoy songs where the lyrics have an actual meaning ang thought behind them, which is why I'm such a fan of progressive rock/metal. =)

No. You have one.

Get your head out of that mainstream crap and go listen to some Rush or Van Halen or some classic stuff like that.

I listen to some Green Day (Dookie, for instance), but I prefer Rush, Tool, System Of A Down, that sort of thing. I've started listening to some Pantera again.

Actually, it was just you assuming that metal is crap and stuff that kicked this off.

And yes, I hate modern mainstream rock because most of it is basically aimed at either anorexic teenagers or mainstream pop listeners.

Green Day's early stuff was decent but their new stuff is like 100% emo.

Which proves you can't take a heap of criticism.

I say metal is crap, and you flip out at me.

Good job!

It would help if you provided some reasons for your dislike of it, rather than just "it's crap". I like metal, because you can have a lot of variety in metal compared to a genre like mainstream pop or techno.

There is nothing suggesting I actually literally flipped out.

But I give up, you are a hopeless case.

I said it was "meh", meaning I don't like it. Then you said:

More like "Mehtal" to me.
Says the guy who listens to a band that's been dead since their second album, I.E. Green Day.

Is that me flipping out? It doesn't even show aggression, it's just me being snarky.
Plus, it's hardly wise posting that in a thread ABOUT metal.

Hate to burst your bubble but Green Day will never be an emotive hardcore band. It's a dead genre.
Listen to I Would Set Myself On Fire you, terrible genre but i'm just making a point.

Not really emotive hardcore, but their newest album is emo fodder.

And sorry Nate, I guess I went a little far and I'd rather not let this escalate too far.
