Windows 7 vs XP
« on: January 22, 2010, 05:52:47 PM »
OK, you might know I use my family's computer for all my stuff, but I'm saving for my own, though I don't have quite enough dough at the moment. Anyway, I'm doing my research about Windows 7, and I want some of your guy's opinions on it, because I know R0B0, Sage, and Serge have it. How does it compare to XP? Is XP better in some areas? I even hear about this snazzy little key that is like a video print screen button. Would that work for Tournament vids? I'm not expecting you to do a full blown review because I know you guys are busy, but a few heads up would be cool. Thanks in advance.

Windows 7 is better in every respect.

There is a very nice "snip" tool installed when you download it. Basically choose any area on your screen with a simple drag box and it saves it as a picture.

cool, but I think it messes with my RA2.

I also can't alter HTML directly.

7 is great, but there are a lot of compatibility issues.

Well, there's just a few old programs that can't be transferred into Windows 7 if you upgrade, because they are either entrenched in the coding or just too old.

Doom will work. We're talking about old games that haven't been ported to newer systems like the doom engine.
Go on and use a 9 year old operating system if you really want to.

My laptop broke Tuesday, it could not load the BIOS, and it won't be fixed till today, or tomorrow......so I had to go buy a new one to tide me over till it is fixed. I now have Windoze 7!
It is not as bad as Vistacrap, but not as good as XP.

Am I the only one who preferred Vista over XP? I mean, Vista is junk, but all XP ever did for me is crash every 34 minutes and smash my video card with a brick making playing games impossible. Then it got screwed up somehow requiring a complete hard drive wipe and reinstalling of the freaking motherboard firmware. I hate XP.

But all that said, Seven has to be an enormous improvement.

"Vista was not a fail, that was only a campaign ad by Apple in their "I'm a Mac" commercials. There was nothing significantly wrong with Vista, besides people saying that it was "too slow" (which is incorrect, because you can easily change the graphic options to make it twice as fast.) Some other arguments were that some programs didn't work from their old XP computers, but when changing from something so entrenched as XP it's very hard to avoid such difficulties."

I had already written this on a debate I had on Facebook with Mac vs. Windows. I just copypasta

ACAMS says it sucks but gives no reason?

EDIT: Oh when it first came out it was a little buggy I spose.
