Title: Website at School/Work can not get on.
Post by: RpJk on May 25, 2011, 12:44:22 AM
OK this topic is for who are like me who can not get on this website because some crappy person blocks websites like Youtube and Hotmail.
Well In Northern Ireland there are people who do that called C2Kni and because of those sons of monkeys I can not get on.
If anyone else experiences a similar problem because of that reason post it here.

I have this trouble with a lot of sites - however, ironically, http://ianaz-proxy.com (http://ianaz-proxy.com) isn't blocked, so I use that to go on sites like this :gawe:

I had that back in High School, something called Websense. Which was abysmal, it actually blocked Google once. But it allowed you onto a website that showed you how to make an atom bomb using two salad bowls and a vacuum cleaner.

Yes. WebSense sucks. It won't let you on forums or even GOOGLE, but it let me onto a terrorist site and a hentai site (I was testing its blocking parameters, in case you were wondering)

We have a blocking system that gave up halfway through. They blocked all the game sites within about 2 days, then about halfway through this year they realized there was no point and just stopped blocking stuff in general.

Good thing gametechmods was never blocked. It took a bloody long time to load though.

I thought it would be a good idea if we could get on this website at school/work but I need suggestions because if they find something that is not educational they block it.

Your best bet is to patiently wait for classes to end, go back to your home so you can access GTM. School computers have blacklists/whitelists for a reason. :P

Back when my school had a  blocking program installed, I pissed off all the students by telling the tech person the name of 1005 different proxy sites, and showing him how to block any search engine queries involving the word 'proxy' as well. They paid me 240 dollars for it.

@Pwnator What reason to be attention seekers. Really if I was them I would only block websites that had nudity. Bad language: Everyone uses it even 5 year olds up in the North of Belfast say bad language. The reason I put up this topic is to finally show people like C2kni and Websense that they can not block websites from us forever because one day they will block google and the owners will see it by mistake and sue them.
Anyways in my school we get free classes every so often (heck so far this week out of the 24 classes I had 3 were free classes so I can go on them.
Here is the Desription of it from wikipedia:

C2k (less commonly: Classroom 2000) is a Northern Ireland-wide information and communications network operated in N.I. Since its creation the project has been funded by the European Union and the Department of Education.

C2k is responsible for providing all schools in Northern Ireland with internet and other services to support the Northern Irish Curriculum.

I wish that would die too.

Whoa. That much free classes? Unless you're in a public school, you're not getting the education your parents paid for. o_o

In the UK you get free education and me I am in on of those special schools for people who left public mainstream seconday schools because they felt under pressure from work.

I used to just add an 's' behind 'http' in the address of every single page.

If we were in the same school I'd break your jaw for being a douchebag.

Surely you included some secret failsafe so that students could bypass it, then charged them 5 bucks each to show you how.

Why does that work? The genious who found out about should get some  with me. Surprisingly, that only never worked when I tried to get on facebook:3

Everyone in our school just finds new gaming websites anyway lol
And I have a list of working proxy sites saved in my school documents.
Although, the computers for the six formers aren't blocked in our school, so I won't have to worry about that stuff anymore

Al the communication is encrypted via SSL/TLS, so any monitoring software will only see the target IP address (not the domain, as it's part of the encrypted HTTP HEAD/GET/POST request), which may be used to host many sites, and would require filtering software to keep w list of IP addresses used by various website's servers, which are prone to change.
