A question about CD's
« on: August 13, 2010, 05:17:20 PM »
How can I make it so a game will run without the CD in the drive? My CD drive doesn't work.

Personally, I'd say to just get a new drive. You can find CD/DVD burners on Newegg for less than $20 with free shipping.
Otherwise, either PowerISO/Daemon Tools like Duck said, or No CD\DVD cracks. (Questionable legality on the second I think)

Well, I have a drive that works, but my computer isn't registering that it's there.

RA2 works fine without the disc. Look on google for other games :)
You got my vote for RA2 Wizard. Always and forever.

It's an IDE/ATA drive, right (wide grey cable)? If so, is another device connected on the same cable (hard disk)? If so, one of them is set as master, the other as slave. The CD drive should probably be set to slave, use jumpers on the back of the drive (look for the SL position) or maybe Cable Select (CS). If the drive's the only thing on the cable, make sure it's on Master (MA) or Cable Select (CS).
