Title: The Ultimate Q&A
Post by: Jack Daniels on November 21, 2009, 12:47:35 PM
We have a pretty diverse collection of people on this forum. Some are pretty knowledgeable about all sorts of things. This thread is for questions... any questions about anything. It does not have to be about Robot Areana... It can be about life itself.

A wise man once said that the only stupid question is the one that goes unasked.  So, ask questions... post answers.  What is on your mind?

--------------------------

I will start things off... this question might take some research because I cannot find the answer.  It has nagged me for a few years.

In the game Gran Turismo 4, when you go to the GT AUTO to get a car wash. There is a groovy song that plays when you get there. It has a pretty catchy riff and some fun piano to it.  I cannot find anywhere who made this song and what it is called.  I kinda like the song and have always wanted to have it in my mp3 collection.

BONUS: if you find out the answer for me and I can verify it somehow... I will reward you with a free bot skin designed by myself (probably the only marketable talent I can provide here) I will skin a bot of your choice for a tourney/BOTM/or whatever as a reward.

--------------------------

Oh, and in this thread if you answer a question... be sure to indicate who the answer is for... so that we know what answers go with which questions.

Have fun.

Agreed.  There was some lady handing out flyers at my workplace the other day encouraging people to buy her book and attend her seminars in preparation for 2012.  All I could think to myself was:  "People are seriously making money off this?!  Who in their right mind would be sucker enough to pay for any of that crap?"   I thought it was bad enough when people buy supermarket tabloids that claim the end of the world is near.  But holy crap...

Here's my question:

Why
Title: The Ultimate Q&A
Post by: System32 on November 21, 2009, 05:32:59 PM
2012 is actually true. Here is how it will end, in a nice timeline(EU and americas only):

2012, Jan 1st: Panic and preparation for "The End" begins. People all over the world begin filling shelters with foods.

2012, Feb - Mar: Cults, followings and panic between the uneducated spreads. Scientists warn about the false beliefs of such events.

2012, Apr - Aug: People quit their jobs worldwide. Violence spreads due to "Unfinished business".

2012, Sep - Nov: Panic reaches climax. Businesses fail, major amounts of population leave for bunkers, basements, anything.

2012, Dec: Due to Lack of appropriate maintenance, some Sewage treatment plants and Nuclear power plants fail and break or get destroyed. Thousands die from disasters, many more die from poisoning from radiation and sewage. A good portion of the worlds wildlife is killed off. In an attempt to stop the pollution, more people try to clean the pollution, leaving bridges, towns and other places to decay from a lack of maintenance. Bridges collapse, making fires and building collapses in minor settlements immenent.

The minor towns will become near inhabitable, and the many that have hidden away will come to the surface. These survivors and bunker people will come to major settlements due to collapses of minor towns. Overcrowding, riots and civil wars start.

Civilisation breaks down, goverment will become useless.

Thus, the "End of the world". USA and europe is fragmented, The middle east and africa soon follows them, And asia follows after a long struggle with a collapsing economy.

Avalanche *cough* LRA2 *cough* ... I didn't start this thread so you could put on quizzes to test peoples knowledge of wrestling. This thread is made for people that want actual answers to questions. If you have an actual question about something that you do not know the answer too (and it is not easily found online) Then that was what I was hoping people would post.

Everyone else: So far so good! great debate/conversation more or less.

Look at bounty hunter's small wedges. Notice how there are blades behind them. A lot of other popups do this. Look at PITA 8, it does the same thing:

About the second question, I was in my showcase, showcasing my popup, and Pwnator said:

Quote from: Pwnator;80976
The Snapper II's for the wedge. The Snapper2's the one with the weapons. But yeah, cut down on the extender work and chassis space (if you can stack the CB into the black) and you'll have enough weight for a better wedge or beefier drive. :D

Protection my friend.  By putting those blades on top of the extenders. It is less likely that the extenders will get damaged and knocked off.  The wedges are vital to the effectiveness to those designs, so protecting the extenders with blades is a great way to keep them on... and the nice thing about the blades is that they are very flat, so it does not hinder the wedge capabilities of the bot.

I think Psycolone first implemented this building technique... but i could be wrong.

Edit: This is how I figured out how to stack a board in a black... (with practice)

I created a max-size guinea pig chassis to test on and placed control boards through the chassis at different heights. The control board set at 4 notches high would hit the sweet spot on a black battery in two different directions. (stacking the battery over the board that is)

I found that the easiest way for me to stack them is to place the control board on the chassis first (four notches up) and then put the battery over it.  If you practice in a super sized chassis you will get an idea of where the sweet spot is for that combo.

decompile it to the components folder and then delete the cfz is the best way

then open up darkspike.txt and add the variable "hitpoints = then how ever much you want

How much space does Paint.net and Fraps take up on your computer? I only have less than 2 gigs left on my hard drive (1.96 to be exact).

I've got one:
Why does everyone hate Scrappy from "Scooby Doo"?
Title: Re: The Ultimate Q&A
Post by: JoeBlo on December 07, 2009, 08:57:02 AM
in more original Hanna Barbera cartoons of Scooby Doo, Scrappy was actually just a regular character and Scooby's Nephew created to save the shows ratings.

the concept of Scappy being hated was first adopted in the Live Action Movie of Scooby Doo

serious ? I have some of the old movies and he was one of the regular characters ? wasn't hated or anything ?

just when you think you know a lot you miss a big detail :P

I do know he is killed or dead as a recurring joke on Harvey Birdman

I should have been clearer... I meant to ask why do the viewers hate Scrappy?

You need one of the first ones from early 80's, my live-in girlfriend watched it all the time (she was 16 - 17...too damn old to be watching toons)

EDIT: on 2nd thought, those were reruns, it was probably early 70's when he first appeared.

Question: What weapon is powerful enough to get through a force field?

BONUS: What is it powered by?

Hint: Not a laser.

the earliest scrappy doo one I have is 1988 straight to TV movie cartoon, I was a fan years ago. scrappy was a regular character in that

Back opn topic of my unasnwered question, I've watched some Scooby Doo episodes with Scrappy in them.  There's one arc where it's just him, Scooby, and Shaggy going around and doing non-mystery related stuff; there were three sketches in each epidoes.  And there's another arc where the eniter gang plus Scrappy goes around doing their usual mystery-solving thing.

Now, according to what I've read on TVtropes, I'm supposed to exhibit a burning hatred towards Scrappy, and as a fan of the show, be outraged that they'd put such a character in.  My question is, why does the Scooby Doo fanbase hate Scrappy so much?

I looked into it a bit more after you asked and found

"wasn't an original character"

"because like other scooby doo relatives seemed like a cheap knock off"

Railguns are still fast enough.
