Gamergate was seriously the dumbest ****ing thing to ever happen on the Internet.  Everyone involved with it was a complete jackass.  It pretty much killed 4chan, and despite all the anonymous complaining about sjws,  It's actually their own damn faults. Anonymous killed themselves the moment they stopped trolling and began taking the whole thing seriously.  They killed it all with their ridiculous self_righteousness.

TBH it's been going on long before this summer and will continue for many years to come until they release their death grip on the media. It was only this August when they actually decided to name it. Every time Jack Thompson decided to be a dumbass on national television, every time some "concerned mother" rang up to complain that her "son" was "beating up prostitutes with a baseball bat on Grand Theft Auto" and every time someone whined that a name of something was "too offensive" to a minority that they didn't even represent *cough* Redskins *cough* Wop Burger *cough* *cough*, that was pretty much GG before it had a name. They probably called it "Gamergate" due to them being the most introverted and least likely to go outside and take a stand. It doesn't help that long before this summer sites such as Kotaku and Cracked have perpetuated the stereotype of an average gamer as a white, male racist in their long drawn incoherent rants that only the mentally incapacitated could truly understand and get behind. Even now, we're having someone who should go down as one of the most important people in human history denigrated by a bunch of bullies who attacked him on a single piece of clothing he wore, a shirt that, believe it or not, was designed by a woman. The utter hypocrisy of these individuals astound me.

Also, people still go to 4Chan? They died sometime in 2011 when m00t lacked the balls to sustain the attack on trolls from /co/ derailing /b/.

Main thing I don't like about GG is that it spawned vivian (aka blomoko the hedgehog do not steal) too along with all the epic for the win "OC board culture hurr" reaction images and that's not cool. Their waifu a sh**.
I honestly don't care about any nonsense media "politics" or whatever behind it because le esjaydubya boogeyman (oooOOOoo THEY GONNA GETCHA) influence on video games doesn't effect what I play. I must admit that it is pretty fun to point and laugh at SJW being prudes over nonproblems though.

8chan is alright but its layout is dogsh** so I really don't use it much.

What?  I thought gamergate started with all that Zoe Quinn nonsense.  Then again, that while first bit send like it could be copy-pasta, so I probably shouldn't take it seriously. Still,  I I think the biggest mistake of gamergate was treating the Zoe Quinn issue like something that actually mattered,  as if her sleeping with people to  a game put on Steam was somehow a big  that it required the internet's full attention.
