I'm going to say "That's your motto, right?" before anyone else can so that a joke that would be otherwise insult-to-injury can be told in vain.

What happened?

Trying to install the RSRBR14 mod to Richard Burns Rally. Avast deleted it and said it's a virus. I told Avast to f*** off and deleted that sh**ty program. Then I had to download the damn installation program again, which was about 446 Megabits and took a while to load.

now I'm using Microsoft Security Essentials.

How you make Alarm Clock Pizza is:
Step 1: You buy an alarm clock from the store, and then you have to break it and put it in the sauce.
Step 2: Fold the sauce in 5 slices and put it in the dough.
Step 3: Paint the eggs with a pitcher of a clock showing what time you want to wake up and eat pizza for breakfast.
Step 4: Put the eggs in the dough.
Step 5: Make it flat into a round shape and draw the time you want on it.
Step 6: Put some old steel to prevent other peple from stealing it.
Step 7: Make it flat and cut into 60 slices 1 for each minute in 1 our.
Step 8: Put in the oven set the timer to 30048813.2884 seconds and put the temperature on 'Volcano' setting.
Step 9: If you think it is take to long, then get yor alarm clock and set it to now so that it will ring and you can take it out.
Step 10: Take it out uv the uvin wen it is redy and go to bed. In the morning eat pizza and also eat yor hands bi mistake.

Avast is a good anti-virus once you "legitimately" acquire the full version of it.

I also had my share of legit downloads that were seen as viruses by avast. Just temporarily disable it while you're working on the download/installation.

Edit: Now that XP support is gone for good I must be more careful and think on updating it...

Well that's a crap choice. I could stick my trojan magnum laden dick into my computer and **** it without MSE noticing.

That being said, Avast isn't too terrible. Get Malwarebytes if you're looking for anti-virus, and I think Mcafee saved me a couple of times.

Mcafee

Great choice if you want your computer to run at half the speed that it can.

only in jonzu's case can you take that sentence literally

I will have to see about the "legitimately" full version of avast.

Also Windows 7 isn't too bad. Though it is a bitch on security.

I don't even use anti-virus on my laptop anymore. There's new viruses every hour and I'll be damned if I'm gonna use up my limited bandwidth by updating constantly. As long as you're extremely careful, there's no real need for it. I haven't had any issues since last August.

Plus, I keep anything important on flash drives and know a guy that will wipe it and reinstall Windows 7 for $20.

I'll get Win7 alright. Security can be tuned down or disabled so that won't be a problem.

MSE is actually pretty decent, just because it's by Microsoft doesn't mean it's bad. HA is right though, if you know what you're doing you should be safe from most malware.

According to tests done by the web user magazine, MSE is by far the worst antivirus
