Time to play devil's advocate again.

Starting a tourney is a good idea, but remember, with a community as small as ours with at most 100 active, take about a nice 50% AT LEAST off for inactive builders, and maybe 5 people off as non DSL builders, and you probably have about 45 people tops. And that's not even counting the people who may not wish to enter the tournament. It's sort of a SLAGIATT sort of thing.

Showcasing, especially if you're very good, isn't really that great though. When you're very good, you just get the generic "Awesome!" comments, which is nice but not really anything that will keep this community afloat. When you're not so great, you get feedback, which is also good, but as I've found, I can never really make a robot that gets complimented, so I just give up.

I was honestly thinking of starting a podcast for the community to announce tournaments and discuss the forums and such; but there's honestly not a huge deal to say anymore.

Agreed, and DSL is pretty damn close to that too. Just the handful of designs, over and over again.

In my honest opinion I think RA2 is nearing the end of the road, I'd give 2 1/2 years. Every great mod apart from DSL has became abandoned at some point (Battlebots and Wham's RW mod I mean come on lads the full version will never happen sadly) and the thing Sic is working on will probably enter the same fate soon. Not a lot of breakthrough this year as well. Being honest I've been playing RA2 heavily recently with free time in tech but can't be bothered showcasing it. Pessimistic as I may be but its the truth.

As long as I have Bots and ideas to share, I'll do it. I don't mind if few people comment or none at all. I know they will look at it and that's enough for me

Try harder. Show that you really are trying hard. Make yourself visible by asking for feedback and help if none comes along.
So far I've seen a lot of Veteran members giving a hand on both Stock and DSL showcases, complementing, giving suggestions for new guys. Obviously if the suggestions are refused, the Veterans will refuse to help too.

do you guys realize there's been someone every year for like the past 5 years to say ra2 is dying? sure, this sh**s over 10 years old, how much of a following could there possibly be? However, ra2 is the only robot combat sim worth while, so as long as people are interested in that, it will survive. I still play ra2, but im mostly drawing up designs in a notebook. I guarantee some of you open up ra2 like "oh man, the forums dying, gotta build some bots", build something sh**ty, give up, and get frustrated. I find ra2 is best when you already know what youre going for when you open it up.

Also, im sure the community will survive, I dont really post that much i guess but I still read most threads that arent in the junkyard. Ive been here too long checking the forum at the end of my day is like a routine, but now we have retards like trias sh**ting up the place. Like that picture someone posted the other day, you never leave gtm.

I'm so ****ing sick of this "hurr RA2 is dying! RIP RA2" bullsh** coming up every few months. Wanna know what I've noticed? It's always the members that have little to no involvement with tournaments, mods and AI packs, or just plain don't build that bring it up.

It all boils down to pretty much what AS said. If you think it's dying, ****ing do something about it. Or even better yet, just ****ing leave. You're the root of the problem.
