To look like a manly man rather than a homosexual sissy. At least from what I've seen/heard about America. Although that is probably a misguided generalisation. Not everyone in America is a homophobe, apparently, this excludes Texans though. I personally have no clue, just saying what I've heard to do with American generalisations.

But IMO guns are for cowards anyway. Real men fight in melee ! (archaic ranged weapons are OK but not as manly)

Went a bit reverse for me in my last school year. I nearly killed someone who was bullying me.

And for those who want to know how, I instantly started choking the guy. Near-death experience made him aware that messing with me isn't smart.
