By that logic, the Playground and Off Topic sections should be completely removed.

This is not a strictly Robot Arena 2 forum, it's a forum based around the members' common interest in Robot Arena 2.

Ah, I think I see that Nate thinks that not posting anything in showcase=not playing RA2. Scourge plays RA2, but rarely posts bots, she plays for fun, not competitively, and as her bots are just for fun, I'm assuming that she doesn't post them as many people believe that if a bot is posted then it must be serious (at least, that is what I think, I may be wrong, and if I am, feel free to correct me).

I think you might be correct on that one. If a bot is posted in a showcase, then usually you get tips on how to make it more comat efficient, or how to make it more aesthetically pleasing if it's an IRL bot. I can't see any reason why she would post bots if she doesn't want that.

Y'know, for a relative newcomer, you do seem to have a good deal of reasoning and rationality. I like you. =)

Thank you. I do try to look into things as deeply as possible before making judgement.

Actually, upon looking closer, I can see how it may have been blown out of proportion. The tone of voice people read 'Why are you here if you don't play RA2 then?' may have put the wrong meaning into people's heads. I have read it as rather arrogant, snarky, slightly annoyed, rather than just questioningly. But then again, surrounding text can become a big part of how people read things, as can people's preconceptions of the context of your writings.

Wakkydude had a similar feeling just before he left again. He claimed the community was "elitist", and while that might have been a little bit of hyperbole, there may have been some truth behind it. There's a lot of "listen to how to improve" going on, and if people just showcase the bots they build for fun, that might be a bit less of an intimidating environment for a newbie to enter into.

I have to agree. Chaos is a pretty cool dude, and I like the way he posts.

@Point 2: That's what drew me to him all those years ago. He's a rational thinker... admittedly that doesn't alway strike well with me, because our knowledge clashes, but 'mancey's a good guy

To be honest, I am starting to lose my interest a bit.

I feel that no matter how much I try, I can't build good bots (especially when it comes to chassis making).

Same, I still build bots but I don't build them for combat effectiveness. But I contribute RA2 to this forum by hosting tourneys
