However, convert it to .gif and you have a slight problem

However, slowing it down to the speed it should be cuts off quite a few frames (when done through iaza.com, at least)

Well, I personally use the line tools

Here's something I just finished to use as an example:

I start with the scalp. The first thing you want to do is find the parting. The curved line too is the best one for hair (unless you're drawing Caeruleus, whose hair is done completely with straight lines).
After moulding the hair to the scalp, you start on the fringe/bangs/whatever (though for GF and Umino, I do that first), before moving onto the length.
