What I don't get is why someone would want to hack a small forum with only about 200 regular members on it.

We have as many as 200 regular members?

They basically send a bunch of TCP packets to the address, in an attempt to flood the server. A network firewall will protect against this, apparently. Plus, we might be able to trace the IP address and put up stuff to block it.

That's how LOIC and HOIC work, though, by flooding the server with spam, to get the denial of service with the server having to take care of all the spam.
