Need a non-DirectX based video player
« on: August 02, 2011, 03:26:26 AM »
Basically, Windows Media Player has completely died on me, and Realplayer and WMM ain't working either. So, could anyone recommend a good non-DirectX based video player?

Probably not.  If your DirectX isn't working you have to get that fixed, because a lot of things will stop working.

Anyway I use VLC so that's that.

Well, DirectX ain't working. I'm tried reinstalling it and that hasn't done anything, so a bit of help'd be nice.

Thanks for recommending VLC, BTW.

MPC uses directshow filter-based codecs (like WMP). VLC uses built-in ffmpeg codecs. However VLC also uses a hardware DirectX output module, but it can be changed in the settings.

Both of you, thanks.

@Serge shall we put that little rivalry that we had to rest, eh?

There is no 'rivalry'. You're just an idiot.
