Just noticed it from the finnish news-website... never knew her, so I don't really care.

She's extremely unpopular here in retrospect over her time as Prime-minister.

BREAK OUT THE CHAMPAGNE, MORTALS!
That's sick.

All her impressive confidence aside, her policies were terrible.
BREAK OUT THE CHAMPAGNE, MORTALS!
That's sick.
I wasn't exactly being serious, but dear god, she was one of the least caring people on the planet, so it may well be appropriate.

I can't stand Obama at all but I'm not gonna go around gloating if he kicks the bucket.
The fact that you said you weren't even serious just shows how frivolous you think this is. Show some respect.

Great logic
+1
Perhaps it makes me despicable, but then again, there are many people we've celebrated the death of. Even if I exaggerated my general reaction with that first comment, it doesn't stop the fact that we are glad that (admittedly much worse) people are dead.
-
In the back of her hearse they will be trying to fit "Prime Minister Thatcher" in flowers in the back, but there wont be any room for that. So they'll shorten it to PMT.

There is definitely an element of that, but the fact does stand that she did lots of damage to the UK economy and caused major unemployment, although she did manage to start repairing it. However, her excessive privatization definitely did not really work at all, and her ridiculous spending on the justice system was an obvious waste.
Also, believe me, all my senior relatives who were around at the time (that's everyone but my brother and cousin) are celebrating, and I'm aware of what she did.
-
Huh, I thought more people liked Mags, they had that movie of her a little while back, and apparently she survived a bombing.

lol @ reier being a moralfag
i think someone's been trolled

Can't say I follow Politics a great deal, but it's a downright venomous one. Old lady with dementia dies, and to him it's a cause for celebration.
And at the same time, it gives me an unfortunate idea of what that facist broad Kirchner and her toadies will make of it.

You're a dumbass. Margret Thatcher was probably the best Prime Minister you've ever had besides Churchill. She wasn't a pinko commie like all your leaders these days.

She really didn't achieve much at all. Churchill wasn't great either because as soon as the war was over he spent far too much time dealing with the West Indies. I cannot see how she was a good leader at all.
Besides, we don't even have any actual left wing parties in the UK anymore (besides Green but no-one votes for them), so we really don't have any leaders who come close to being "commies".
-
I know my opinion means squat, but I thought she was a rather good Prime Minister. Either way, everyone's allowed to have their own opinion. It's a shame she's passed, but I suppose she's been ill for a while. Good leader or not, it's best we show her the respect that she deserves now she's no longer with us.

I've got nothing against the woman she was post-retirement, but prior I feel her political influences were mostly negative.

She didn't take sh** from anyone, especially not Argentina, and that's what's important in a leader. Also, she was good friends with Ronaldus Maximus. And all your parties are left-wing compared to America, so they're commies.

It's true that she was admirably tough, but it doesn't make her tough for a good cause.
Also, the democrats are about as left wing as our main parties.

Whatever, she was pretty badass, being the most powerful women in the world and all. I'd say she deserves some respect. She was good friends with President Regan too, so as an American, I see that as a positive. Also, why is this not under "Politics"?

She was pretty powerful for sure, and I respect her for that, but not her actual views and actions.
It wasn't initially a political discussion, but it's head that way now.

Aye, I remember that well. The pathetic bunch of sods are still bitter about that even now.
-
**** Cristina Fernández de Kirchner. That is all.
-
F*ck Cristina Fernández de Kirchner. That is all.
Quoted for truth- her moral code is so twisted, it's laughable.
According to her, it's perfectly alright (And outright encouraged, no less) for her country to attack some small islands and their population unprovoked, with the intention to turf them out of their home, build drilling rigs, and kill and maim those who defy them. Yet at the same time, because the UK sent Soldiers to put a stop to it and liberate the Islanders, they are cowards and murderers for doing so. Absolutely pathetic.
-
She's just distracting the Argentinians from he fact that their economy's ****ed by stirring up national pride. She must know that she would get decimated if she tried to take he Falklands. On top of that, not a single person on the Falklands wants to be under Argentinian rule.

That's exactly it- what better way to distract people from the fact you're crashing your own economy into the ground? Hell, as long as you can blame someone and stir up patriotic fervour by declaring war on them, it's all OK to her.
Even when the botox-blooded fool claims that we're being imperialistic over wanting to protect the Falklands from Argentina, yet she's clearly the one being that way- the fact that she thinks the views and opinions of the Islanders are "Irrelevant" and that her toadies consider them to be criminals should tell you everything you need to know about her and her government.
And I was very pleased to see the Islanders standing up for themselves on the issue- definitely one of the best "Screw you, you're not going to take us over" moments to Argentina I've seen.
-
Some Argentinian company made a Falklands based Counter Strike Source map, with the UK as the terrorists. :laughing Don't they know that the AK47 is far superior to the M4A1 in cs?

Ah yes, I saw that too- I just love how they consider us terrorists when they're the ones who attacked the Islands unprovoked in the first place. The absolute pinnacle of desperation and patheticness from them, next to Kirchner trying to get the Pope involved.
-
I thought it was funny how Kirchner expects anyone in the UK to actually listen to the pope.
-

There, MNB pretty much summed it up. a leader should be a fearless badass, damn it !
Not like the pile of jelly that is the current president of France.
-
What's he doing anyway? ObaMao's just chillin back kissin the Chinese' feet and blowing our defense budget on welfare.

I really don't think the US needs any bigger a defence budget.

Obama is going to cripple the US with the North Korea stuff.

Big business is bad and we should all live in a commune.
Oh wow madman...

Might be. General attitude from those people, though- Thatcher dies, and suddenly every 15-year old in the land is suddenly an apparent expert in 1980s politics.

I'm not going to act like an expert in politics, let alone British 20th century, but when Osama Bin Laden and Kim Jong Il died, it seemed like there was a lot less revelry. It just seems strange, I can't picture myself celebrating when George Bush and Dick Cheney kick it.

Well, when Bin laden died, there was quite a lot, but there were also people who were saying we shouldn't celebrate a man's death, no mater how terrible the man.
-
Right bad example with Bin Laden, but hopefully you get my point.
-
I dunno, I really don't care about her death anymore. I think at this stage the whole thing has spun out of proportion, like you guys. Much while I dislike her, she doesn't deserve quite this much hate, or this much media attention.

Thank you, that's much more reasonable. Even though I can't say I really knew a great deal about her, her demise certainly shouldn't have been met with revelry by ignorant young tossers who don't know a thing about 1980s politics.
I mean, an old woman's died of Dementia, and the first thing they do is rejoice, openly proclaim she's burning in Hell and throw big parties over it. It's absolutely disgusting.

TBH, I think both reactions need to pretty much end. There isn't much point in getting too defensive of her, either; really the media and public attention might as well just end, because it really doesn't mean much at all.
-
So she gets a £10 million public funeral and private cremation?
Her funeral hould be private, go to the lowest bidder (It's what she would have wanted) and her cremation should be public.
