Title: Speeding up your browser 10x
Post by: Sage on October 19, 2009, 05:57:58 PM
Yo, I found something really cool yesterday. Using the speedhack tool in CheatEngine 5.5, I was able to speed up my browser 10x faster than normal. While this has downsides (youtube videos get weird, all .gifs are 10x faster as well) it REALLY speeds up your surfing, ESPECIALLY with facebook.

Anyone ever tried this before?

Why don't you just do 20 to get an uber-fast connection?

UH OH, I remember some guy playing around with and recommending cheat engine on the old forums, and a bunch of people then realized it was infested with viruses and trojans

What internet connection you are using?

I would assume it only works for people with a higher connection speed than the default respond time of the website you are visiting.  Or at least, you probably won't be zooming anywhere with dial up.

As far as Cheat Engine and virus goes,

Cheat Engine will usually show up as a virus because it is a tool intended to modify your low level memory (so you can replace assembly codes and the like).  That is not to say the version the person got is clean.  It just means that even a clean copy will still result in false positive.

10 seems to be the max surfing speed wise. I can speed up other things (like .gifs and the facebook timer) as much as I want but thats just annoying.

@123- Cable. Dunno what speed I have though. Probably just the normal one.

Sounds about right.  While it does vary depending on your area, Cable tends to have pretty fast DL speed.

Safari is fast enough for me.

I bet it won't help a 24kb/s dial-up connection. I am running on that and it sucks severely. We're talking a 30 second video on Youtube taking 20 minutes to load or downloading a 3 minute song in 45 minutes... My maximum transfer rate is 3 kb/s on Limewire.

That was me and it was my computer that was a virus fortress, not the program.

I also use it sometimes, but not to speed up browsing, but for slowing down games :P
