I'm thinking about returning on one condition, Total immunity from BS such as trolling and name calling. I will be able to host tournaments (in a speedily fashion as always) work on AI packs and maybe post some new bots.
I did put a lot of effort into my work here and was sad to have to throw a lot of it away but I wanted to make a statement that I will not be toyed with. I'm here to have fun not to be mocked by some trolls.
So if you would like some faster run tournaments and some more AI packs I'm more then happy to provide such things given the terms of the return are met. I don't think it's too much to ask.
-
make sure you do this FIRST is you DO plan on returning-
profile --> modify profile --> group membership --> playground --> leave group
-
Unfortunately I must greet you with 2 words, which I wouldn't really want to do.. Good luck.
-
I'm with Craaig. It's great to see you back and willing to contribute, your efforts will definitely be appreciated, but in all honesty, you have unreasonable expectations. I trust that most will oblige out of principle, but you can't go to any public forum and expect total respect like this, let alone demand it.

This, the only place that the trolling/namecalling mainly happens is playground. Honestly though demand of total immunity of namecalling and trolling won't work, it's the internet and that happens whether you like it or not.

I explained to ACAMS in a PM that I never joined the group, the whole argument took place in general off-topic, I didn't think anyone else would listen due to the hostility I was met with at the time.
I know there will always be idiots around Redline, craig and plazmic but usually they are dealt with, unfortunately that wasn't the case when I left. Not much I can do about it by myself and to be honest I was saddened by the apparent lack of respect/trust I had gained in my time here when I was involved in the argument.
I was actually the one who asked for general off-topic so I guess the confusion caused was my fault.

Know this : There is no such thing as trolling/blame/immunity on the internet.
You can stay OUT of playground/chatterbox and enjoy moderator protection from trolling (because it isn't allowed out of these two boards), but it's not full protection, (because someone can attack you in the main forum and you can see it before a mod removes it and whacks the offending person) but if you don't want to be trolled at all the safest bet is to get out of these boards.
Or you can simply choose to ignore the trolls.
Not to mention that claiming to get total immunity from trolls will entice the trolls to attack you even more. Just saying.

there, Redline pretty much nailed it.
It doesn't mean that you can't come back here, it just means that you cannot possibly expect no trolling at all.
-
If there's any name-calling bullsh** in showcases, it's guaranteed that I will remove those posts. And with Nary around and with Trov having a greater access to admin powers, I'm pretty sure GTM would be more civilized.
-
It would be easier just to ignore/report anyone giving you grief. Internet warriors are everywhere and there is not a lot you can do so just enjoy your gaming and don't let the bar stewards grind you down.
-
Elitist much?

To be honest, your excessive complaint about a lack of respect is what drew that negative attention towards you. It won't be a problem if you just got a long with what you do RA2 wise, but I'd recommend not complaining if your efforts don't get much attention and instead just keep at it.
Additionally, you can ignore certain boards if you want IIRC

when was he ever trolled except for that america thread?
-
You seriously think walking in with demands is a good idea? You should know by now that these things you listed ARE GOING TO HAPPEN. ITS THE INTERNET. The result of those things is all in how you react to them. Doing this makes you look like a prick.

I remember that.
Many lelz were had at his expense.
-
IIRC the america thread is exactly what caused the fuss, it was in general off-topic (a new section for people outside of playground to chat about general things) which meant there was no trolling allowed there but instead of anything being done I was ganged up on and nothing was done apart from it being moved to the playground.

I know stuff happens but a mod or someone could have done something about it seeing as it was trolling outside of playground but nope..instead all I got was more hostility. Just think this is the first time something like this has happened with me since I joined ages ago, that is because I avoid all the crap in playground etc. you can't blame me for it spilling out into the general forum.
This was the section all that trolling started.

Just don't get too paranoid - not everyone is out to get you.

To be fair, you did make an entire thread about how the game is losing the fun factor due to lack of community (Edit; just re-read it, turned out it had more serious responses than trolling, so I think that part is something to disregard), and then, after that, a lot of people started bothering you because of elitism and believing people should pay more attention to you and your AWs (if I remember correctly)... I am pretty damn sure you posted in Playground, because there was the whole thing with HX as well, but Playground was carpet bombed not too long ago, so I can't go back and check it. Although, you also posted stuff in Chatterbox which is really just a toned down Playground. Of course, everything I just said could be a load of rubbish, if so, sorry.
Really, there is no such thing as immunity, but there is such a thing as not rising to what is thrown at you (possibly easier said than done, but oh well).
Either way, welcome back, good luck with getting back into the community, and good luck with whatever projects you have lined up.

I did think the game is losing the fun factor, a lot of things have been vanishing such as BBEANS and a lot of quality vets such as starcore and inf who really progress the game. Surely you can't fault me for that?
elitism? no, I don't think I'm awesome at everything I do here. Honestly I miss the times where any tournament would get a bunch of feedback and general chatter along with a whole bunch of entries, things felt much more alive. Having hosted tournaments when the forum was like that compared to now makes me wish my tournaments got more attention, that's only natural right? and I really think people could do a little more and liven up the place a bit.

Should be better this time around as I'm just ignoring the people who annoy me.
-
There's nothing more random than Internet. Hoping for people not to insult you no matter how wonderful you are, is pure illusion.
You can't be sensitive in the Internet. Those are the people the internet trolls are hoping to find.
You can do 2 things in these situations:
>Play along (carefully)
>Ignore
Simple and straight forward
-
It is your decision to come back or not. I can't guarantee any form of protection from other members but you can certainly avoid confrontation.
In general, it is easy to get on people's nerves when you have a negative attitude about things. Also, if you can't offer a solution to a problem than you are only making things worse by repeatedly bring it up (I'm thinking of the fun-factor thread but it doesn't just apply to you). The Robo Zone tournament didn't have very many followers but that doesn't mean that nobody appreciated your efforts (this is especially true of the people that were following it).
I would advise trying to keep a positive attitude online and keeping your IRL problems to yourself. Everyone has problems and nobody wants to be swallowed up by the metaphoric cloud that is other people's problems. Every now and then, you can slip up but perseverance is the key to online success. Taking insults never feels good but the way that you respond to them says something about your character.
The forums rules apply to everyone and nobody is going to receive special treatment (this applies to both you and other members).

I was originally, but then I re-read it and realised it was a serious thread with mostly serious responses, but I don't doubt that it is one of the things that led to the subsequent drama.
Elitism is more a sense of entitlement (I have done X, Y and Z, I think I deserve A, B, and X, or 'I have done stuff, I deserve respect') than the straightforward 'I am better than you' attitude (I'm pretty sure that is being pretentious or arrogant... maybe both), although it's possible that the notion of you being elitist just came from taking what you said about the things you had done (which, if I remember rightly, had a bit mentioning how you wanted more comments on your stuff) and exaggerating it for the purposes of annoying you (I do vaguely remember a large 'discussion' in one of the GTM Skype chats at the time, but I don't really want to go looking for it).

TRB bullsh** and assorted paraphernalia removed. If he continues, i'll mute him.

You flat out called Americans stupid and when you got a well deserved backlash for it, you discredited any counter-criticisms as trolling.
Nobody should give you special treatment, so stop acting like you deserve it. If you don't want to be trolled, don't make yourself a target by saying something as stupid and uninformed as that.

Right, because we don't have enough to do. It's not my fault that nobody here knows how to deal with each other. I've told you 300000000 times that you need to learn how to handle your interactions with other people on your own. We can only cover your ass so much.

Was this America the thread the one I caused when I misnamed my AI?

You will enjoy your return here if you follow some simple rules:
Only do things related to RA2 if you find them enjoyable for your own gratification.
Any efforts that you put fourth, expecting the community to bow down and praise your excellence, will leave you sorely disappointed.
So, just have fun and stop worrying about if your efforts are getting the praise they deserve. That is ultimately what brought a ton of heat on you and contributed (by my observations) to a ton of your stress related to this forum.
Please don't start another tournament unless you understand all of this.

I didn't know Jack Daniels could be serious. I thought he only came in happy go lucky flavour.

Obviously you have being too cynical for too long then.
