Yes, I know that the name is already used by a robot. Suck it.
Anyway, I recently acquired a 3-wheeler or All-Terrain Cycle. (No, they aren't illegal to own. Just to sell at a dealer.) A Honda 185S ATC, to be exact. Unsure what year it is, but they were only made from 1981 to 1984, I believe. It doesn't run, but I hope to have it running fairly soon.
This is what we are working with... This isn't mine, just an example.

Judging by this picture, the fenders on mine have been swapped from another ATC, because they are different and have clearly been modified to fit this one. Not a big deal, since they are broken and I am going to modify them even further since they are broken. I have already cut off the bottom half off of the fenders just above where it was broken. Apparently this is common practice in racing, anyway. (Yes, they actually race these things.)
The current plan is to get it running, obviously, but then I want to do a nice paint job on it. Apparently, restoration can be expensive.
So customization seems like the only logical course of action. The paint will be black on silver. The red and chrome parts will be satin or flat black and the currently black parts will be silver or a light grey.
As I've mentioned, I've already began work on the fenders. Pictures to come tomorrow, hopefully.

My dad and I have done a few of these. We did a couple ATC125ms. The first one was a total perfect restoration, I was too young to remember how much that cost. The motor died in that one. The more recent one needs a new carb at the moment.

Looks like a deathtrap.

Isn't that one of the reasons they don't produce those anymore?

Yes.
Anyway, I have finished painting the fenders.

It's very blue.

Whoa, what. It must just be the lighting in it and your monitor settings. I see the blueness now that I am on my desktop.
But yeah, the fenders are satin black.

Now, turn it into a combat robot.

While Project Trinity may be at a standstill, I found a 3 wheeler on Craigslist last friday that caught my eye.

Gave $250 for this one. It's a Kawasaki KLT 250. It needed a battery and there's a slow leak in two tires, but nothing that is too much trouble. The guy I bought it from had it running when I went to get it, but once I bought it, put a new battery in it and tried to start it myself, the spark plug fouled. Still not a big issue. Likely just caused by bad fuel in the tank. Already have a new plug to go in it. Just need to drain the fuel and put new in.

I saw one of these built from a wrecked dirt bike, ATV, and golf cart once on Junkyard Wars. It was between the season's red team, the Junkyard Hogs, and that season's green team, the Superchargers and the challenge was to build a dune racer. The Superchargers were the team that built the trike while the Junkyard Hogs built their dune racer from another wrecked ATV, some tubing, and a riding lawn mower chassis. Unfortunately for them, the front suspension on the Junkyard Hogs's machine gave out on the first pass and it only got worse from there as the suspension kept giving out on the last uphill section, thus giving the win to the Superchargers.
