My steam downloads really slowly, I'm downloading a game called Civilisation 5 and its going to take 11 and a half hours to finish downloading. Is there a way of making it go quicker?

Maybe you just have a shitty connection? Or the wrong country set in your Steam preferences?

Its set to UK (London) in my preferences and I generally have good connection.

I got Super Meat Boy on the 23rd and I didn't have any problems.
