Author Topic: Parental Controls gone mad? (Read 3502 times)

Today, for no reason at all, WPC has started blocking ALL websites on my PC, giving the reason "Rating service is unavaliable", despite unrated sites being allowed.

I am running a scan ATM but nothing is showing up. Everything is blocked on all my browsers. I am on Vista, and currently on an ibahn connection, as I am on holiday (I.e. Unsecured, enter code or pay to gain acess to Internet.

My father is not having this problem and he too is on the ibahn network, same with my iPod

Can anyone help?

13, my father is a control freak and my mother can't work out a 5 year old mobile, let alone a PC.

No, the point is that it's blocking every website, whereas it's set up to only block certain websites.

One of my friends parents got Pisssed at me for teaching him some basic HTML, because he might "mess up the computer."

I disabled mine without my parents knowing, because I knew their password and just used their account instead of mine

Restarting the computer didn't work 10 minutes ago.

Parental controls are for parents that smother their children, or for the just plain lazy parent.

Parents need to realize that the more the try to keep a child from learning what the real world is like, the more out of control they are likely to be in the future.

On the lazy parents' side... If you feel the need to keep a child from certain things on the internet, then be there while they are on the internet.

Which brings up another point... As much as I love technology, I find it utterly ignorant to be giving children under the age of... Oh, let's say 10 free reign over a computer or cell phone. I've seen 8 year olds with smart phones and such, and I feel it is rather ridiculous.

Like 90% of the places where being gay is fine.
