My PC sucks
« on: January 03, 2015, 02:42:53 AM »
my pc is not good

it crashes when i try and open more than one tab, it takes half an hour to start in the mornings, and my flash plugins keep crashing on me, when i turn it back on it just freezes the darn thing.

but, i've been able to live with it. sure, id like to get it fixed, but i'm not rich.

anyways, a new problem has emerged in the form of it not being able to identify any USB's save for the keyboard and mouse etc. but that might be because they've been plugged in there for the past 3 years and are practically fused with the darn thing.

it won't read my pendrive, nor will it identify my phone. it says it's there, in that it acknowledges it presence, but refuses to identify it or allow me to access it, simply stating that it exist, and nothing more.

help?

clean hard drive. run a few antiviruses, as well as Spybot-Search&Destroy and CCleaner (make sure to get the real ones and not fake software).

Also maybe a scandisk and a defrag.

About your new problem... I don't know, but maybe you can try using different USB ports ?

Do you have the drivers installed ?

Doesn't CCleaner get rid of everything? I think I had to use it before and I'm pretty sure I had to back-up a few things.

It doesn't uninstall programs if that's what you mean. It does erase temporary files, cookies, unused non-essential files and stuff. You can customize what you want to erase with CCleaner though.

S.H.I.E.L.D, how old is your PC? If it's new (between 4-1 year or less) faulty hardware is most likely the problem. If it's older than that, old hardware will start to fail.
A good start is doing what Naryar said. There's a chance that it will also make your USB ports work again. If that doesn't work, backup everything and format your PC. If that doesn't work either, old or new your hardware is faulty.

Also I strongly recommend Malwarebytes to get rid of pesky trojans and malwares. Like 99% of other similar softwares, there's a free and premium versions but the free version actually allows you to use it, there's no trial period and it's good.

Pc was a hand me down from my uncle. We've had it for about 2 years, I dont know how long he used it though.

Another problem is flash, adobe flash won't automatically display some images and almost always requires me to do it myself. Even then, it constantly crashes and my plugin thingy says there's something wrong with it. I'm assuming I need to install a newer flash programme?

If your adobe flashplayer was outdated, you couldn't watch youtube videos. Crashing is certainly not a symptom of outdated flash. It would instead promptly tell you that flash needed to be upgraded. There's no harm in trying, though:

Make sure you uncheck any optional offers.

Mine and Naryar's recommendations still stand, m8. Virtual and physical cleaning are recommended, if you haven't done the latter in a while (or never)

if adobe flash fails, then reinstall it

if you have lots of unused crap in your computer it's time to clean it as well.

you need to clean up your registry with CCleaner as well, and windows's disk cleaning tools
