In Quite the Predicament

Ok so recently I reinstalled my OS and other stuff back on my laptop, and ever since I did that a while back, the volume doesn't work. As in, I keep getting an error saying there isn't a driver for sound, but I try to reinstall directx and it doesn't let me..

First off, which OS are you using? That might make some difference on what to install or reinstall. But if you go to Control Panel -> Sound, then select Properties, Controller Information -> Properties, and select the Driver tab, you should be able to see what you have as a driver. After that, you could Google it and see if you can download it again.
