Well,i have to major problems with my laptop. One is the charger does not charge the laptop and just gives power to it.My other problem is that it shuts off randomly,WHEN ITS PLUGGED IN AND NOTHINGS LOOSE. :vista: I need help as i cant get these bot files up for my challenge.
-
Are you using the same battery and charger that came with the laptop?
-
Nah,battery YES but charger died on me,and would not give power, let alone charge a battery! So i have the new one, which i got around 2010,mid-year i think. And that played up from the START.
-
What model and age is your laptop? What OS does it run on?
-
OS sh**ted up, battery needs replacing, laptop possibly overheating, user is an idiot.

Could be all of the above, but could also be a virus maybe
-
Sounds like a personal problem, Avy.
-
Nope, if Avalanche is using Win7 then it's an issue with power management that occasionally happens on certain Dell computers. My mother has similar problems with the same symptoms and circumstances.

My Acer laptop occasionally starts turning off randomly, becoming more frequently. This is when I know it's overheating, so I take off the bottom panels and clean the fan out - there's usually a thick layer of dust etc there. If the area above the fan on your laptop is warm/hot when it turns off, it's probably that.
-
Well,lemme think,Its Windows Vista,About 3 to 4 years old.And it gets pretty hot.Ill see what i can do.
-
Maybe it is just automatic pause when you don't interact with your computer. I could be wrong though.
Also, might be a battery problem. My old Macbook's battery is also out of working order after two years and a half. Is it correctly placed ? What brand ? You'll have to explain more in detail if you want help.
-
Oh no.Just realized! The battery was with the laptop, with no information. So i have no idea what the model of the battery is.

Well there's your problem.
I had a similar problem with my Dell laptop, exept the battery was charging fine. It was because I hooked up my Laptop to my TV. Have you changed any software, or have you added any new hardware?
-
Oh,little extras. When its booted up,it says Packard Bell.So its not a DELL computer.
-
Probably just overheating. Happens on my laptop occasionally.
Just clear out/clear the space around the fan.

You should take that horse out to the pasture and shoot it. You're really living life on the edge by continuing to save data on a malfunctioning machine with no backup. Best to cut your losses and buy a new computer while you still can transfer the files.
Trust me, I know firsthand.
